Tim Anderson Back In Leadoff Spot
Tim Anderson (neck) is back at shortstop and is hitting in his customary leadoff spot as the team takes on the Chicago Cubs and right-hander Javier Assad on Wednesday. Anderson was scratched from Tuesday's lineup as a precaution due to neck stiffness, but he's back in there a day later. With the 30-year-old's appeal for a six-game suspension being heard on Thursday, this could be the last day before he's forced to sit out during a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies on the road. The two-time All-Star's struggles this year have been well-documented, but Anderson has looked much better since the All-Star break, going 27-for-93 (.290) with his first home run of the year, three doubles, eight RBI, two stolen bases and nine runs scored in 24 starts.
