Teoscar Hernandez Could Be A Solid Sleeper Option In 2018
7 years agoIt may not sound like the most exciting option in the world, but as of now, Teoscar Hernandez is the projected starter in right field for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2018. You probably don't recognize his name just yet, but given what we’ve seen out of him previously, you might become familiar with it soon. Acquired by Toronto from the Houston Astros in the Francisco Liriano trade at the 2017 trade deadline, Hernandez swatted eight home runs in only 95 plate appearances in the few months he’s spent north of the border. Spending the majority of the season in the minor leagues, Hernandez slashed .253/.337/.454 with 19 home runs and 17 steals across 487 plate appearances. It’s also worth noting he has a 20-20 season on his minor league resume (2014: 21 home runs/33 steals), and has stolen a minimum of 17 and a maximum of 34 bases every season since 2011. In the vast majority of standard leagues, Hernandez won’t even be on the radar of draftable players. However, his skill set indicates he’s a player absolutely worth paying attention to.
