Stephen Strasburg Throws 60-Pitch Bullpen Session
3 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg (neck) threw a 60-pitch bullpen session on Monday. Although nothing is official, Strasburg's next step could be to face live hitters in a simulated game or batting practice session. The 32-year-old right-hander could be on track to return to Washington's starting rotation later this month, barring setbacks. Strasburg wasn't very good in five starts (21 2/3 innings) before his injury, posting a 4.57 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 22.1% strikeout rate and career-high 14.7% walk rate, but he hasn't really been healthy since 2019 when he led the league with 18 wins in 209 innings while posting a much better 3.32 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 33 starts. With a return getting closer, Strasburg should be rostered in all formats and could make the difference for your staff if he gets past this injury.
