Spencer Howard Pushed Back To Monday Against Dodgers
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Spencer Howard was originally slated to start on Saturday against the New York Yankees, but he will instead take his next turn on Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to manager Joe Girardi. Vince Velazquez will start on Saturday, and Aaron Nola will go Sunday against New York. The 24-year-old has three starts and three relief appearances for the Phillies this year in 13 2/3 innings, posting a 4.61 ERA and 1.53 WHIP with 19 strikeouts and 11 walks. His last three appearances have all been starts against the Red Sox, Marlins and Nationals. Howard has allowed three earned runs in 9 1/3 innings (2.89 ERA) in those starts, so he's actually been better as a starter in his limited sample size. However, he's not a strong streaming choice against LA on Monday, especially since he's yet to throw more than four innings in a start yet in 2021.
