Spencer Arrighetti Throwing on Flat Ground
Spencer Arrighetti (thumb), who was transferred to the 60-day injured list over the weekend, is going through a flat-ground throwing progression and will report to the team's facility in Florida later this week, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Arrighetti has been out of action since breaking his right thumb when he was hit by a ball during batting practice in early April. If the 25-year-old continues to make progress as he ramps up his throwing program, it's possible that he will return to the major-league starting rotation in early July. Because of how much time he's missed now, Arrighetti will most likely need a minor-league rehab assignment before coming off the IL. The former sixth-rounder should have a spot in the rotation waiting for him when he's ready despite posting a 5.59 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in his first two starts of 2025.
