Shohei Ohtani Does It All In Win Over Rangers
4 years agoLos Angeles Angeles starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani allowed four runs in the first inning on Monday against the Texas Rangers, but he went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and three runs scored in the 9-4 win. He also struck out nine hitters in five innings to pick up his first win since May 20, 2018. It was the first time an American League pitcher had two hits and three runs since Minnesota's Jim Perry on May 1, 1971. Ohtani walked two, hit a batter and also gave up a three-run home run, just his seventh allowed in 15 starts. The Japanese two-way star's command can cause him problems at times, and the Angels continue to be cautious with his workload because of blister issues on his right middle finger that have bothered him this year. Ohtani is more valuable as a hitter in fantasy right now, but when he's healthy, his upside is really high at both pitcher and DH.
