Sam LaPorta Looks Like Starting Tight End
1 year agoThe Athletic's Colton Pouncy writes that rookie tight end Sam LaPorta looks like the team's TE1 in training camp. He is always working with the starters and he's the most talented tight end on the roster. Pouncy thinks the Lions are comfortable with LaPorta's ability to pick up the offense, and he's passed every test so far. Whey they go with a two-tight end set, it typically features LaPorta and Brock Wright. But James Mitchell is getting more and more involved in his second year. LaPorta, a second-round pick, should get plenty of work in his rookie season in the NFL, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will translate to fantasy success immediately once the bright lights come on in the regular season. For now, consider him a low-end TE2 in fantasy with some upside for more.
