Sam Gagner Rejoins Oilers On Professional Tryout Contract
1 year agoVeteran forward Sam Gagner is once again a member of the Edmonton Oilers after signing a professional tryout contract with the team. He has previously already had two spells with the club, famously tying the franchise record with an eight-point game in 2012. Gagner spent last season with the Winnipeg Jets, suiting up in 48 games and recording 14 points (eight goals, six assists) before dropping out of the lineup after having surgery on both hips. In 1,015 career games, the former top-10 draft pick has managed 192 goals and 327 assists. Gagner could be a decent depth piece for the Oilers if he's back to full health following the hip procedures. Fellow veteran Brandon Sutter, who last played in the NHL in 2020-21, has also received a professional tryout contract from Edmonton.
