Rays Hope Yandy Diaz Can Play Wednesday
1 year agoUpdating previous reports, Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that first baseman Yandy Diaz (groin) is day-to-day after leaving Tuesday's game early against the Minnesota Twins with a testicular contusion after fouling a ball off a sensitive area below the belt, and the team is hoping he can play on Wednesday. Diaz's injury is no doubt very painful, but it's apparently not serious enough to keep him out for an extended amount of time. That's music to fantasy manager's ears, as Diaz has been a must-start in all lineups all year as Tampa's leadoff hitter. The 32-year-old Cuban came into Tuesday's contest slashing .324/.404/.513 with a .916 OPS, 20 home runs, 71 RBI and 88 runs scored in 478 at-bats.
