Alfredo Duno Gets on Base Four Times on Wednesday
Alfredo Duno went 3-for-5 on Wednesday at Single-A Daytona, including a walk, two doubles, two RBI, and a run scored. The Reds' fifth-ranked prospect is 7-for-12 (.583) over his last four games, and is slashing .274/.415/.455 on the year with nine home runs and nearly as many walks (72) as strikeouts (78) in 89 games. The 19-year-old catapulted into MLB.com's Top 100 in their July refresh, currently sitting at 81st overall, and could continue to climb up the ranks. The young Venezuelan boasts strong exit velocities and an excellent approach that has helped him to a career .415 OBP through 166 minor league games. He should be squarely on dynasty managers' radar now and could be in the majors as early as 2027.Source: MiLB.com
Cincinnati Reds catching prospect Cam Caminiti Fans Eight on Wednesday at Single-A
Source: MiLB.com
Atlanta Braves pitching prospect Cam Caminiti pitched well again at Single-A Augusta on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out eight over five innings of work. The Braves' top prospect has been phenomenal over his last seven starts, posting a 1.61 ERA (2.21 FIP), 1.14 WHIP, and striking out 43 batters over 28 innings pitched. The 2024 first-rounder got a late start to the season due to forearm tendinitis, making just nine starts in all for the GreenJackets, but looks ready for a challenge at High-A. Whether that happens this year or next, Caminiti is a name to keep an eye on, as he could be a quick mover through the organization. At just 18 years old, he's still a couple of years away from the majors, but the Braves aren't shy about bringing pitches up early, and even having them go straight from Double-A to the majors, so fantasy managers shouldn't be caught off guard.Nelson Rada Settling in at Triple-A Salt Lake
Nelson Rada was promoted to Triple-A Salt Lake on August 2, and since then, he's recorded a hit in each of the three games he's played. The Angels' sixth-ranked prospect is 3-for-12 (.250) with three RBI, three runs scored, a 1:2 BB:K, and three stolen bases. It is much like what he had put on display at Double-A, where he hit .277 with 34 steals over 93 games for Double-A Rocket City. The 5-foot-9 Venezuelan doesn't offer much power, though, as he's tallied just five home runs in 1371 career at-bats in the minors. Nevertheless, at 19 years old, he's the youngest player at Triple-A, which should give you an idea of how talented he is, although the lack of power somewhat diminishes his potential fantasy value. The left-handed hitter could debut in the big leagues next year, and his defense will help get him there.Source: Taylor Blake Ward
Los Angeles Angels outfield prospect Jarlin Susana Activated from Double-A Injured List
Jarlin Susana (elbow) has been activated from Double-A Harrisburg's 7-day injured list. The Nats' second-ranked prospect (MLB No. 48) was placed on the IL back in May with a UCL sprain, but has completed a three-game rehab assignment at High-A. The 21-year-old posted a 4.15 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, and a 14.8 percent K-BB% in six starts for the Senators before going down with the injury, but looked very sharp in his rehab, recording a 3.00 ERA (0.55 FIP), 0.89 WHIP, and an elite 38.9 percent K-BB%. The 6-foot-6 hurler struck out 157 batters in 103 2/2 innings pitched in 2024, but struggles with control, owning a 12.2 percent walk rate in his minor-league career. The righty should debut in the majors next year, but if the walks don't come down, he could find himself in the bullpen.Source: Bobby Blanco
Washington Nationals pitching prospect Chase Meidroth Heads to 10-Day Injured List
Chase Meidroth (thumb) on the 10-day injured list with a right thumb contusion, retroactive to Aug. 4. The team selected the contract of infielder Jacob Amaya from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Meidroth hasn't played since he took a pitch off the thumb and had to leave early in a 9-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies last Wednesday. The 24-year-old rookie has hit .252/.330/.319 with three homers, 15 RBI, 36 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases in 349 plate appearances this season.Source: Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox have placed middle infielder Nolan Arenado Could Rejoin Cardinals on Aug. 18
Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is "likely" to come off the 10-day injured list and rejoin the team Aug. 18, John Denton of MLB.com reports. In the meantime, Arenado will report to the team's Florida-based spring training facility on Friday to work on strengthening his injured right shoulder. Arenado began dealing with shoulder pain in July, though he didn't go on the 10-day injured list until Aug. 1. Thanks in part to his shoulder issues, Arenado posted a miserable .440 OPS in 16 games in July. Overall, the eight-time All-Star, 34, has slumped through arguably the worst season of his career. Arenado has hit just .235/.294/.366 with 10 homers, 43 RBI, and 43 runs scored across 394 plate appearances.Source: John Denton - MLB.com
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Robert Stephenson Throwing Bullpen Sessions
Robert Stephenson (biceps) threw his third and most recent bullpen session on Aug. 5 as he works back from a stretched nerve in his bicep. Stephenson made just two appearances in late May before the injury forced him to the 10-day IL, and the Angels have since moved the 32-year-old to the 60-day IL. Stephenson is eligible to return whenever he's ready, which could be later this month. In 2023, his most recent full season, Stephenson put up a 3.10 ERA with a .88 WHIP and 77:16 K:BB in a combined 52 1/3 innings between Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay. The Angels then signed Stephenson to a three-year, $33 million contract in free agency, but they've gotten nothing from the investment so far. He missed all of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery and has thrown only one inning this year.Source: MLB.com
Los Angeles Angels right-handed reliever Jose Leclerc Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery
Jose Leclerc (lat) underwent successful surgery on his right shoulder on Wednesday. Leclerc will remain on the 60-day injured list and miss the remainder of 2025 before becoming a free agent. It'll go down as a lost season for Leclerc, who last pitched April 22, as well as a failed investment for the Athletics. They guaranteed Leclerc $10 million on a one-year deal, but he threw just nine innings of six-run, 13-hit ball with 8:5 K:BB before a lat strain forced him to the shelf. Although Leclerc tried to work his way back from the injury, it wasn't in the cards. It's unclear if he'll be ready for the start of next season. A Texas Ranger from 2016-24, the soon-to-be 32-year-old will return to free agency over the winter with a 3.34 ERA, 11.72 K/9, and 5.00 BB/9 across 369 1/3 career innings.Source: MLB.com
Athletics reliever Ryan Yarbrough to Face Hitters Thursday
Ryan Yarbrough (oblique) will face live hitters Thursday for the first time since he went on the 15-day injured list with a strained right oblique on June 20. The plan is for Yarbrough to begin at 30 to 35 pitches, and once he's around 50, the Yankees could activate him from the IL. Yarbrough signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Yankees shortly before the season began and turned in respectable results for the club over his first couple of months in pinstripes. The soft-tossing 33-year-old has totaled 16 appearances (eight starts) and gone 3-1 with a 3.90 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and 49:17 K:BB in 55 1/3 innings.Source: MLB.com

Michael King to Return Saturday
Michael King (shoulder) will come off the 60-day injured list to start Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports. It'll be the first appearance in the majors since May 18 for King, who has missed almost three months with shoulder inflammation. After fully breaking out as a starter last year, King carried it over into this season before suffering the injury. Across 10 starts, King has pitched to a 2.59 ERA with a 1.02 WHIP, 64 strikeouts, and 17 walks in 55 2/3 innings. The Padres are likely to ease him back in, though, as King threw just 61 pitches in his most recent rehab start on Aug. 3 at the Triple-A level.Source: Dennis Lin - The Athletic
San Diego Padres right-hander Luis Urias Back in Lineup for Series Finale
Luis Urias (back) has returned to second base and will hit eighth in Thursday's series finale in D.C. against the Washington Nationals and left-hander Mitchell Parker. Urias was pulled from Sunday's game with lower-back issues and missed the next two games. The 28-year-old is back now, though, with Max Schuemann moving to third base and batting out of the No. 9 hole. Urias hasn't been much to look at from a fantasy perspective this year, slashing .234/.322/.355 with a below-average .677 OPS, only eight home runs, 20 RBI, 25 runs scored and two stolen bases in 256 at-bats. Since the beginning of July, he's gone 7-for-35 (.200) with a homer, two RBI, three runs scored, five walks and four strikeouts in 14 games played. Urias should be avoided for DFS purposes against Parker, who he has never faced.Source: MLB.com
Athletics infielder Andrew Vaughn Homers Again in Brewers Win
Andrew Vaughn remains red hot for the Brewers, and helped them secure a 5-4 win on Wednesday night to close out a sweep of the Braves. The Brewers have won six straight and nine of their last 10 games to open a four-game lead over the Cubs in the NL Central, and Vaughn's contributions have been key to their success. In his 22 games since being called up from Triple-A, Vaughn is hitting .377 with seven homers, 28 RBI, and a .476 wOBA. The former No. 3 overall pick in the MLB Draft couldn't stick with the White Sox, but he has been outstanding in his time with the Brewers, and he remains a great bargain play for DFS contests and an excellent addition if he's still on the waiver wire. His long-term role is a little uncertain when the Brewers get healthy, but he's definitely earned a regular spot in the lineup for the foreseeable future.Source: ESPN.com

Tylor Megill Will Throw Batting Practice Thursday
Tylor Megill (elbow) has been on the injured list since mid-June with an elbow sprain, but he is working his way back to possibly return for the stretch run. An MRI at the time of the injury showed no structural damage but a significant amount of inflammation that has forced him to miss significant time. The 30-year-old righty was 5-5 with a 3.95 ERA, 3.40 FIP, and 89 strikeouts in 68 1/3 innings before the injury, and he was tracking towards the best season of his career before being sidelined. The Mets have a full rotation at the moment, but Megill could be a very valuable arm down the stretch, especially given his high strikeout rate this season. Keep an eye on his recovery and see if the Mets plan to use him in the bullpen or the rotation when he returns.Source: MLB.com
