Tylor Megill Will Throw Batting Practice Thursday
Tylor Megill (elbow) has been on the injured list since mid-June with an elbow sprain, but he is working his way back to possibly return for the stretch run. An MRI at the time of the injury showed no structural damage but a significant amount of inflammation that has forced him to miss significant time. The 30-year-old righty was 5-5 with a 3.95 ERA, 3.40 FIP, and 89 strikeouts in 68 1/3 innings before the injury, and he was tracking towards the best season of his career before being sidelined. The Mets have a full rotation at the moment, but Megill could be a very valuable arm down the stretch, especially given his high strikeout rate this season. Keep an eye on his recovery and see if the Mets plan to use him in the bullpen or the rotation when he returns.
