Andy Borregales Named Patriots Starting Kicker
Andy Borregales their starting kicker for 2025 after releasing Parker Romo on Tuesday. A sixth-round draft pick, Borregales arrives from Miami (FL), where he built a strong collegiate résumé by converting 74 of 86 field goals, including an impressive 18-for-19 mark in 2024. While he showed some inconsistency during the preseason, the Patriots are committing to him as their long-term option at the position. New England will be counting on Borregales' leg to stabilize special teams and provide reliability in tight games throughout the season.Source: Mark Daniels
The New England Patriots have named rookie Browns Release Wide Receiver Diontae Johnson
Diontae Johnson, making him one of Tuesday's notable roster cuts. Johnson, a 2021 Pro Bowler with the Steelers, was battling for a reserve role behind Cedric Tillman and Jerry Jeudy but fell short. The six-year veteran has bounced around recently, spending time with the Panthers, Ravens, and Titans last season, struggling to regain his early-career form. Still, Johnson's polished route running and proven production give him a chance to latch on elsewhere. As teams finalize their rosters before Week 1, the 29-year-old could emerge as a depth option for a contender.Source: Mike Garafolo
The Cleveland Browns have released veteran wide receiver Buccaneers Release Wide Receiver Trey Palmer
Trey Palmer ahead of Tuesday's roster deadline. Palmer, a sixth-round pick in 2023, appeared in 32 games with 11 starts over the past two seasons, recording 557 receiving yards and four touchdowns. After flashing early in his career, his role diminished last year, and the offseason additions of Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson made him the odd man out in a crowded receiver group. At just 24, Palmer still offers speed and versatility, and the Pittsburgh Steelers showned interest earlier in camp, giving him at least one possible landing spot for 2025.Source: Ari Meirov
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released wide receiver Panthers Release Defensive Back Mike Reid
Source: Aaron Wilson
The Carolina Panthers have released rookie defensive back Mike Reid, who joined the team earlier this offseason as an undrafted free agent out of South Dakota. Reid was competing for a depth role in the secondary, including the nickel-back spot, but the team opted to move forward with other options, most notably second-year DB Chau Smith-Wade. While Reid didn't make the 53-man roster, Carolina is expected to bring him back on the practice squad if he clears waivers. His versatility and effort could make him a developmental piece worth monitoring as the season progresses.Giants Part Ways With Quarterback Tommy DeVito
Tommy DeVito, ending his two-year run with the team. DeVito, a fan favorite, appeared in 12 games and made eight starts, posting a 3-5 record with eight touchdowns against three interceptions. Despite his flashes, the depth chart in New York left little room, as veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, along with rookie Jaxson Dart, secured roster spots. While his release was expected, DeVito's experience and poise under pressure could make him an attractive waiver target for teams seeking quarterback depth ahead of the 2025 season.Source: Jordan Schultz
The New York Giants have released quarterback Jaguars Release Safety Daniel Thomas
Source: Ian Rapoport
The Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran safety Daniel Thomas, ending his five-year stint with the franchise. A 2020 draft pick, Thomas carved out his role primarily on special teams, providing depth in the secondary when called upon. Despite his consistency, Jacksonville's offseason overhaul at safety -- adding Eric Murray, Caleb Ransaw, and Rayuan Lane -- left the roster crowded and forced tough decisions. Thomas' departure signals the team's commitment to developing a younger, more versatile group in the defensive backfield. While he may draw interest as a special teams asset, his immediate future in the NFL remains uncertain.Chiefs Release Safety Mike Edwards
Source: Tom Pelissero
The Kansas City Chiefs have released veteran safety Mike Edwards, ending his second stint with the team. Edwards, a six-year pro, played every game for Kansas City in 2023, starting five, and contributed across special teams and the secondary. He began last season with the Bills, appearing in three games before joining the Buccaneers for five more. His departure is a mild surprise given his expected role in the safety rotation, but the Chiefs appear ready to pivot toward younger options like Kevin Knowles or Major Williams as they continue shaping their defensive backfield for 2025.Jaire Alexander Could be Ready for Week 1
Source: Jeff Zrebiec
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee) is pushing to return to practice and could be ready for Week 1, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. The 28-year-old has been dealing with the same injury all offseason, and while it looks like he's close to returning, his status is far from guaranteed. The veteran defender spent his first seven pro seasons with the Green Bay Packers before taking his talents to Baltimore via free agency. He made 287 tackles and 12 interceptions over seven seasons, including 16 tackles and two interceptions through seven games last season. The two-time Pro Bowler will look to shake the injury bug, get healthy once and for all, and contribute within a Ravens defense that should rank among the best in the NFL.Trevon Diggs Has No Limitations, Could Play Week 1
Source: Jon Machota
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs (knee) told the media that he has no physical limitations and has not yet ruled out playing in Week 1. At the moment, Diggs says he is working on "ramping up the conditioning part, getting back to football speed, [and] getting back to in-game speed." The 26-year-old is working his way back from a second consecutive season-ending knee injury. He did manage to appear in 11 games last year, totaling 42 tackles, 11 passes defended, and two interceptions. He's expected to be a central part of the Cowboys' defense once again in 2025, especially if pass rusher Micah Parsons misses games amidst his trade demands. Will Howard Moving in Right Direction
Will Howard (hand) is "moving in the right direction in terms of [achieving] full participation very soon," head coach Mike Tomlin said on Monday. Tomlin added that Howard has met with a hand specialist and received positive news. As a result, the Steelers have altered the rookie quarterback's brace and increased his level of activity in practice. Injury statuses can change by the minute, but for now, it looks like Howard should open the season on Pittsburgh's 53-man roster as the third-string quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph. He's off the fantasy football radar for now.Source: Chris Adamski
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Tory Horton Expected to Practice in Full Next Week
Tory Horton (ankle) is expected to practice fully next week, head coach Mike Macdonald told members of the media, including ESPN's Brady Henderson. Horton has been sidelined ever since injuring himself during the second week of the preseason, but it sounds like he's very close to returning to the field. A fifth-round rookie, Horton once totaled 167 catches, 2,267 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns over the course of two seasons at Colorado State. However, in his third and final season there, his counting stats dropped as he was limited to just six games. Now, Horton is looking to make an impact at the NFL level. As soon as he's cleared to practice, he should step in as the Seahawks' No. 3 receiver behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp.Source: Brady Henderson
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Panthers Cut Kicker Matthew Wright
Matthew Wright has been released, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. As a result, rookie Ryan Fitzgerald has won the kicking job. Wright failed to convert his only field goal attempt of the season, missing wide from 55 yards out. No stranger to being an NFL journeyman, Wright played for six organizations over five seasons, including three teams in 2024. He made 15 of his 16 field goal attempts last year. Now, he will proceed to search for a kicking job elsewhere, perhaps adding another team to his resume.Source: Joe Person
Carolina Panthers kicker Ryan Fitzgerald Wins Panthers Kicking Job
Ryan Fitzgerald has won the kicking job after the team released Matthew Wright, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. The undrafted rookie out of Florida State went 3-for-3 on field goals and also converted his lone extra point attempt through three preseason games. He enjoyed similar success at school, going 13-for-13 on field goals during his final collegiate campaign in 2024. Although the Panthers' offense is trending up, Fitzgerald lacks fantasy appeal at the moment, especially as a rookie with no track record kicking at the professional level.Source: Joe Person
Carolina Panthers kicker Cowboys to Place Phil Mafah on Injured Reserve
Phil Mafah (shoulder) will be placed on injured reserve, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. The Cowboys expect Mafah, a seventh-round pick, to return later this season. The Clemson product finished the preseason with 15 carries, 59 yards, and a touchdown. Although his placement on injured reserve is frustrating, it shouldn't change much in terms of Dallas' backfield dynamic. All along, Mafah was expected to slot in as the team's No. 4 running back behind Javonte Williams, Jaydon Blue, and Miles Sanders. Now, his NFL debut will just be delayed a little longer as he works through his recovery.Source: Jeremy Fowler
Dallas Cowboys running back Efton Chism III Missing From Practice Monday
Efton Chism III (foot, ankle) did not participate in Monday's practice, according to Evan Lazar of the team's official website. Chism picked up the injury during the team's second preseason contest against the Minnesota Vikings. He impressed enough during the first half of that contest to secure a roster spot, which was perfect timing since he didn't suit up for the preseason finale last Thursday. An undrafted rookie out of Eastern Washington, Chism represents an underdog story as he prepares to make the Patriots' 53-man roster. The rapport he formed with Drake Maye during the preseason suggests he could earn some targets right away, but we don't yet have enough confidence in Chism to justify drafting him in typical 12-team fantasy leagues. However, he does represent an intriguing, low-risk sleeper in deep leagues, especially dynasty PPR formats.Source: Evan Lazar
