Mike Malott extended his win streak by defeating former title challenger Gilbert Burns in the main event of UFC Winnipeg on Saturday. Malott's takedown defense was on point in this fight as he was able to defend seven of Burns' takedown attempts. Both fighters had their moments, but the fight started to change drastically when Malott landed a big right hand that dropped Burns. Burns managed to get up but was then quickly knocked down again, and the fight was stopped by the referee. In 12:08 of action, Malott landed 56 significant strikes. With the win, Malott improved to 14-2-1 and is now 7-1 in the UFC.--Alen Kurbasic

Former title challenger Gilbert Burns retired from the sport of mixed martial arts after suffering a third-round TKO loss to Mike Malott in the main event of UFC Winnipeg on Saturday. It was a back-and-forth fight where Burns and Malott exchanged for 2 and a half rounds before Malott landed a devastating right hand that dropped Burns. Burns did manage to get up, but was then knocked down again, and the fight was stopped by the referee. In 12:08 of action, Burns landed 40 significant strikes. It was the fifth straight loss for Burns, who turns 40 in July.--Alen Kurbasic

Charles Jourdain extended his winning streak to three by defeating Kyler Phillips via unanimous decision in the co-main event of UFC Winnipeg on Saturday. Even though he got taken down seven times, Jourdain outworked, landed more damaging shots and threatened Phillips with submissions, not to mention that he was giving his all trying to knock Phillips down. In 15 minutes of action, Jourdain landed a takedown and 58 significant strikes. After earning back-to-back bonuses, Jourdain picked up his third straight bonus, only this time it was for Fight of the Night. --Alen Kurbasic

Kyler Phillips suffered his third consecutive loss on Saturday when he dropped a unanimous decision to Charles Jourdain in the co-main event of UFC Winnipeg on Saturday. It was a thrilling, close, back-and-forth fight that could have gone either way, but an argument could be made that Jourdain did a bit more than Phillips, who was looking to get the fight to the ground. Mandel Nallo suffered a first-round TKO loss to Jai Herbert on the main card of UFC Winnipeg on Saturday. Nallo knocked Herbert down in the first round and almost finished him, but Herbert survived and, not long after, landed a right hand that dropped Nallo. UFC debutant Nallo then managed to get back on his feet but was again caught with a right hand that knocked him down again. Herbert followed up with ground-and-pound, forcing the referee to stop the fight. In 2:05 of action, Nallo landed 16 significant strikes. Nallo hurt Herbert with a big knee and some follow-up straights, but Herbert managed to survive and turned the fight on its head with a counter right hand that knocked Nallo down. Herbert then followed up with hammer fists, but Nallo was able to get back to his feet. The 37-year-old Herbert then landed another right hand that knocked Nallo and pounced on him to deliver more ground-and-pound, forcing the referee to stop the fight. In 2:05 of action, Herbert landed 19 significant strikes. With the win, Herbert improved to 4-5-1 in the UFC.--Alen Kurbasic

Karine Silva suffered a unanimous decision loss to Jasmine Jasudavicius on the main card of UFC Winnipeg on Saturday. Silva had success in the first round when she took Jasudavicius down and threatened her with submission attempts, but after Jasudavicius landed a takedown of her own, Silva wasn't able to get back in the fight. In 15 minutes, Silva landed 15 significant strikes. With the loss, Silva dropped to 19-7 as a pro and is now 5-3 in the UFC.--Alen Kurbasic

Jasmine Jasudavicius returned to the win column by defeating Karine Silva via unanimous decision on the main card of UFC Winnipeg on Saturday. In the opening round, Jasudavicius found herself in trouble in the first round after getting taken down by Silva, who was threatening Jasudavicius with submission attempts. After surviving the early danger, Jasudavicius found success with her own takedowns and ground control, and she maintained that control almost until the end of the fight.
