Jacob Cowing Placed on Injured Reserve
Jacob Cowing (hamstring) was placed on the Injured Reserve list on Wednesday, guaranteeing that he will miss at least the first four games of the season. Cowing was battling a hamstring injury for most of training camp and suffered a major setback while trying to return for the team's final preseason game. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided a six-week return timeline for Cowing, making his IR placement an easy decision. The 24-year-old would have had a chance to make an early-season impact had he been able to stay healthy, as the 49ers' wide receiver room has been besieged by injuries behind WR1 Ricky Pearsall. With the delayed start, Cowing should be off the radar of fantasy managers for the time being. However, he could be an under-the-radar midseason pickup, depending on the status of currently sidelined 49ers wideouts Brandon Aiyuk (knee) and Jauan Jennings (calf).Source: San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kimani Vidal Waived by Chargers, Expected to Join Team's Practice Squad
Kimani Vidal on Tuesday, but Vidal is expected to return to the team via its practice squad, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. With Najee Harris (eye) able to avoid a trip to the NFI list, Vidal lost the battle with Hassan Haskins for the third and final running back slot on the Chargers' active roster. Los Angeles drafted Vidal in the sixth round in 2024, and he recorded 217 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 48 total touches as a rookie. The soon-to-be 24-year-old could get a second chance to make an impact with the team if a backfield injury leads to his activation from the practice squad, but he should remain off the radar of fantasy managers for the time being.Source: CBS Sports - Matt Zenitz
The Los Angeles Chargers waived running back Dontayvion Wicks Returns to Practice on Wednesday
Dontayvion Wicks (calf) returned to practice on Wednesday, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. Wicks missed a good chunk of August with a calf injury, but it appears he has a chance to be ready for Week 1. The third-year wide receiver could slot in alongside Matthew Golden and Romeo Doubs as Green Bay's WR3 early in the season, with Jayden Reed (foot) questionable for Week 1 with a foot injury. Wicks is a talented player, but he struggled with drops and inconsistency in 2024, hauling in just 39 of his 76 targets. Wicks has some upside as a late-round dart-throw in deep leagues, but he would likely need multiple injuries in the Packers' wide receiver room to really take off in 2025.Source: The Athletic - Matt Schneidman
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Aidan O'Connell Placed on Reserve/Injured List
Aidan O'Connell (wrist) was placed on the Reserve/Injured List on Wednesday, per an announcement from the team. O'Connell suffered a fractured wrist in the team's final preseason game, which is expected to sideline him for six to eight weeks. O'Connell's placement on the Reserve/Injured list guarantees that he will miss at least the team's first four games, although the six-to-eight-week timeline indicates it will most likely be a longer absence. The Raiders acquired quarterback Kenny Pickett from the Browns on Monday to take O'Connell's place as the backup behind Geno Smith. Neither Pickett nor O'Connell will have any fantasy value in 2025 unless Smith were to get injured.Source: Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jordan James Returns to Practice on Wednesday
Jordan James (finger) returned to practice on Wednesday, per David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard. James has been sidelined since early August with a broken finger, but appears on track to be ready for Week 1. The 21-year-old was pushed down the team's depth chart when the 49ers acquired veteran running back Brian Robinson Jr. from the Washington Commanders. However, James could open the season as the RB3 in San Francisco if second-year back Isaac Guerendo (shoulder) misses time due to an ongoing shoulder issue. James would likely need multiple injuries to the backs ahead of him to be fantasy-relevant in 2025, but he's a name to be aware of in dynasty leagues.Source: The San Francisco Standard - David Lombardi
San Francisco 49ers rookie running back Malik Nabers Expected to be Full-Go for Week 1
Malik Nabers (back) said the back issue that caused him to miss the team's final two preseason games was a "minor thing" and he'll be ready for Week 1, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan. Nabers also missed time during training camp due to a shoulder issue and has been nursing a toe injury since his college days at LSU. However, Raanan writes that Nabers does not expect his ailments to prevent him from being himself when the season begins. The 22-year-old averaged 11.3 targets per game as a rookie in 2024 and should be among the league leaders in target share once again in 2025. As long as he stays on the field, Nabers is a clear WR1 in fantasy with overall WR1 upside in PPR-scoring formats.Source: ESPN - Jordan Raanan
New York Giants wide receiver Dolphins Officially Sign Riley Patterson to Practice Squad
Riley Patterson to their practice squad on Wednesday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Patterson is expected to be elevated to kick against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 of the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 7, in place of the injured Jason Sanders (hip). The Dolphins put Sanders on short-term Injured Reserve on Tuesday, meaning he'll miss at least the first four games of the 2025 season. The 25-year-old Patterson will get a shot to fill in as Miami's kicker until Sanders returns, although he won't really be a starting kicking option in 12-team fantasy leagues. Patterson has already kicked for five different teams in his four NFL seasons and has made 85.1% of his 74 field-goal attempts and 96.5% of his 112 extra-point tries. He's gone just 4-for-9 from 50-plus yards out.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
The Miami Dolphins officially signed free-agent kicker Chargers Re-Sign Jalen Reagor, Nyheim Hines to Practice Squad
Jalen Reagor and running back Nyheim Miller-Hines to their practice squad on Wednesday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Reagor and Miller-Hines will return to the Bolts to provide depth entering the 2025 regular season at their respective positions. Even if they are both brought up to the active roster at some point this year, they most likely will not be on the fantasy radar. The 26-year-old Reagor never lived up to his draft stock as the 21st overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020 out of TCU. In his five NFL seasons with four teams, Reagor has 86 catches, 1,037 yards and four touchdowns in 64 games (27 starts). He hasn't scored since 2022. Miller-Hines, 28, has mostly operated as a light pass-catching back in his five NFL seasons, but he hasn't played since 2022 due to a torn ACL.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
The Los Angeles Chargers re-signed wide receiver Ravens Expect Isaiah Likely "Back in the Early Part of the Season"
Isaiah Likely (foot). Likely was not placed on short-term Injured Reserve on Tuesday despite suffering a small fracture in his foot early in training camp in late July that required surgery. While it's ultimately good news for the 25-year-old, it doesn't mean that Likely is going to be ready to play in the Week 1 regular-season opener on Sunday, Sept. 7, against the Buffalo Bills. Likely's injury definitely makes veteran Mark Andrews are more intriguing midrange TE1 target in upcoming fantasy drafts. Likely had a slightly bigger role alongside Andrews in 2024 and finished with a 42-477-6 line (all career-highs) in 16 regular-season games (nine starts). Likely is a low-end TE2 worth stashing in fantasy, especially TE-premium leagues.Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley
Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said that "we expect him back in the early part of the season," when asked about the timetable for injured tight end Colts Don't Plan on Trading Anthony Richardson Sr.
Anthony Richardson Sr., who lost out on the starting QB job to enter the 2025 season. "We're not trading him," general manager Chris Ballard said on Wednesday. Richardson, the former fourth overall pick out of Florida in the 2023 draft, is at a low point in his career entering the 2025 campaign after losing out on a competition to Daniel Jones. The 23-year-old has plenty of rushing ability but entered the league as a developemental prospect as a passer. Not only has he struggled to make strides with his accuracy and decision-making as a pure passer, but injuries have also gotten in the way. Richardson started just 15 games in his first two seasons and may only get another shot under center in Indy if Jones struggles. A-Rich is only stash-worthy in dynaty and two-QB superflex formats right now.Source: Indianapolis Star - Joel A. Erickson

Mark Andrews Returns to Practice
Mark Andrews (undisclosed) returned to practice on Monday, according to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec. Andrews missed Monday's practice with an undisclosed issue, but the fact that he is back on the field a day later suggests it was very minor. Even though Andrews had a costly fumble and dropped pass in last year's Divisional Round loss to the Buffalo Bills in the postseason, the 29-year-old remains in play as a midrange TE1 target as one of quarterback Lamar Jackson's favorite options through the air, especially with Isaiah Likely (foot) potentially missing the start of the regular season. The three-time Pro Bowler finished 2024 with 55 catches for 673 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns on 69 targets over 17 regular-season games (13 starts). Fantasy managers can't expect double-digit TDs again, but Andrews has had at least six scores in all but two of his seven seasons.Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec
Baltimore Ravens tight end Khalil Shakir Returns to Practice on Wednesday
Khalil Shakir (ankle) returned to practice on Monday for the first time since suffering a right high-ankle sprain in early August, according to Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News. Shakir was most likely limited on Wednesday, but the fact that he's back on the field this week bodes well for his availability for a Week 1 showdown against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Sept. 7. The 25-year-old had a breakout 2024 campaign, catching 76 of 100 targets for 821 yards and four touchdowns in 15 regular-season games (nine starts) in his third year in the league. However, with Buffalo expected to continue to spread the ball around and with second-year wideout Keon Coleman likely to have a bigger role, fantasy managers may not want to expect an improvement for Shakir in 2025. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 45 fantasy wideout.Source: The Buffalo News - Katherine Fitzgerald
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Jordan Love Back to Full Practice
Jordan Love (thumb) would be a full participant in practice on Monday. Love had surgery to fix a ligament in his left (non-throwing) thumb after the first preseason game and was held out of the final two preseason contests as a result. The 26-year-old is back to a full participant in practice now, though, which should leave no doubts about his availability for the Week 1 regular-season opener on Sunday, Sept. 7, against the division-rival Detroit Lions. The former first-rounder will be looking to bounce back after regressing slightly in his fourth season in 2024 with 3,389 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 15 starts. Love and the rest of the offense will need better injury luck to do that, but their receiving corps isn't off to a good start. Fantasy managers should consider Love to be a midrange QB2 with upside.Source: The Athletic - Matt Schneidman
