Lars Nootbaar (intercostal) is back in left field and will hit seventh in Tuesday's contest against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander
Paul Skenes at PNC Park. Nootbaar will return to action in Pittsburgh after missing the last two games due to an aggravated left-intercostal injury. It's not the best matchup for him to return to against Skenes, so those setting DFS lineups may want to avoid him in his return. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter went through a rough stretch in mid-June but has picked things up in his last eight games, going 8-for-30 (.267) with three home runs, a double, seven RBI and four runs scored in 35 plate appearances. In seven career at-bats against Skenes, Nootbaar is hitless with a .125 OPS.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Charlotte Hornets signed free-agent center
Mason Plumlee to a one-year, $3.6 million contract. The veteran big man played in 74 regular-season contests with the Phoenix Suns during the 2024-25 campaign, averaging 4.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.6 blocks per game. Going into his 13th NBA season, the 35-year-old will have to battle for minutes with rookie
Ryan Kalkbrenner and

Nolan Gorman will make the start at the hot corner and will bat fifth against Pirates right-hander
Paul Skenes. Arenado jammed his right index finger in Sunday's series finale against the Cleveland Guardians and was removed from the game as a precaution before serving as the designated hitter in Monday's series-opening loss to the Bucs. It's possible that his finger could still be bothering him, but we'd expect Arenado to be back in there on Wednesday. Gorman has hit .267 (8-for-30) with three home runs, seven RBI, five runs scored and a stolen base in his last eight games, but DFS managers will probably be looking to avoid him against one of the most dominant young pitchers in the game on Tuesday in Skenes.

Arizona Diamondbacks corner infield prospect
Gino Groover's strong start to the 2025 campaign has propelled him to a selection to the All-Star Futures Game on Saturday, July 12 at Truist Park. The D-backs' 10th-ranked prospect has put together a .301/.377/.471 slash line with 10 home runs through 67 games for Double-A Amarillo. His 78 hits and .301 average are second-best in the Texas League, while his SLG and OPS are both top five. The 23-year-old also showed well in his 13 games at Double-A last year, and now with 80 productive games to his name for the Sod Poodles, he should be in the mix for a promotion to Triple-A later this year.

Christian Vazquez will do the catching for right-hander
Joe Ryan and will bat ninth against Marlins right-hander
Edward Cabrera. After splitting the catching duties pretty much right down the middle the last several seasons, Jeffers has become the clear starter in Minnesota this year and enters Tuesday's game with a .236/.336/.382 slash line with six home runs, 29 RBI and 25 runs scored in 225 at-bats. He has struggled offensively of late, going 7-for-45 (.156) with two home runs, eight RBI and seven strikeouts in 13 games since June 11. Vazquez shouldn't be a DFS sleeper target at catcher. He's gone 22-for-129 (.171) on the year with just two homers and nine RBI. Vazquez is hitless in two career at-bats against Cabrera.

Paul DeJong (face) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder
Andres Chaparro to Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. It's unclear if DeJong will be in Tuesday's starting lineup against the visiting Detroit Tigers, but he's unlikely to see the kind of playing time he was seeing earlier this season before fracturing his nose and orbital bone on a hit-by-pitch now that infield prospect
Brady House is up in the big leagues. Before his injury, the 31-year-old DeJong had 11 hits in 54 at-bats (.204) with no home runs, two RBI, three runs, two steals and a 24:2 K:BB in only 16 games for the Nats as their primary third baseman. Without regular playing time in Washington, DeJong will only be worth rostering as infield depth in deep NL-only fantasy formats.

Jorge Soler (back) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned infielder
Scott Kingery to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. Soler will immediately return to right field and hit sixth against Braves right-hander
Grant Holmes in the series opener at Truist Park. The Angels don't yet feel comfortable moving
Mike Trout back to the outfield regularly, so Soler will occupy right field on a regular basis for the Halos now that he's back from his injury. While the 6-foot-4, 235-pound outfielder still has light-tower power if he gets ahold of a ball, he also swings and misses very frequently, as evidenced by his .207 average (49-for-237) with 79 strikeouts in 265 plate appearances this year. Soler is in the 11th percentile in whiff rate as well. He's gone hitless in just one career at-bat against Holmes.

It has not been a fun time inside the ropes for Si Woo Kim in recent weeks, having withdrawn from the Travelers Championship and finishing nearly dead last among those who made the cut last week in Detroit. Putting has gone as far south as one could imagine for such a highly-regarded player, as the fresh 30-year-old has lost an average of -1.92 on the greens over his last three events. That is heavily weighted by the -3.75 strokes he lost in Connecticut, but TPC Deere Run demands a level of putting prowess that the South Korean hasn't shown since May. Regardless of the ball striking, which remains a strength, it's unlikely that Kim will do enough on and around the greens to warrant much consideration at the hefty price of $11,700 on FanDuel.

Hunter Goodman (hamstring) is back behind the plate to catch rookie right-hander
Chase Dollander and will hit second on Tuesday versus the visiting Houston Astros and left-hander
Colton Gordon at Coors Field. It looked like Goodman was heading to the injured list with a left-hamstring injury on Tuesday, but he'll return to the field after missing the previous four games. That's music to the Rockies' and fantasy managers' ears, as the 25-year-old is in the midst of a breakout 2025 season, slashing .287/.332/.512 with an .844 OPS, 14 home runs, 48 RBI and 40 runs scored in his 289 at-bats. The right-handed-hitting backstop hasn't been quite as good against lefties, though, batting .237 (18-for-76) against them with three of his 14 long balls on the year. Still, fantasy managers in single-year leagues will want to get him back into their lineups.

Jakob Poeltl has agreed to a four-year, $104 million contract extension with the organization through the 2029-30 season, per Shams Charania of ESPN. Poeltl picked up his 2026-27 player option at $19.5M and adds three more years to his deal. The 29-year-old had an excellent 2024-25 regular season, registering career-highs with 14.5 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest in 57 games. He will likely continue to be a solid fantasy contributor going into the 2025-26 campaign.

Hoping to build on his T5 finish here last season and continue his impressive run since winning the Zurich Classic in April, Ben Griffin should have a strong chance to capture his second win this season. The game that's been on display for the last 10 weeks or so doesn't exactly correlate with what's shown in season-long metrics. Over his last six starts, Griffin is averaging +0.941 strokes gained putting, +0.91 strokes on approach, and +0.588 off the tee. Two of which were at venues with shorter approach shots and a heavy reliance on making a ton of putts. There's a reason he is the leading DFS option this week, and those willing to deal with heavy ownership shouldn't hesitate to get him into lineups.

Ronny Mauricio is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's tilt against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers at Citi Field.
Mark Vientos is at third base and is hitting sixth, while
Brett Baty will start at the keystone and bat in the nine-hole against Brewers right-hander
Freddy Peralta. Mauricio, who is playing in just his second MLB season after debuting for the Mets in 2023, is likely going to continue to find consistent playing time in Queens now that Vientos is back from his hamstring injury. The 24-year-old Dominican infielder has also hit jut .224 (15-for-67) with three home runs, five RBI, seven runs scored and two stolen bases while striking out 22 times and walking five times in 20 games this year. It's possible that he could be sent back down to Triple-A Syracuse so that he can continue to play regularly.

Cincinnati Reds infield prospect
Sal Stewart has been selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game on Saturday, July 12 at Truist Park. The Reds' third-ranked prospect has been hitting well all season at Double-A Chattanooga, but has been on fire the last two weeks, going 20-for-46 (.435) with five home runs, 16 RBI, and 14 runs scored in his last 12 games. The 21-year-old is up to a .327/.390/.498 slash line for the season with 27 extra-base hits (nine home runs) and 13 stolen bases in 71 games for the Lookouts. The former 32nd-overall draft pick could see a big rise from MLB's No. 62 prospect the next time the list refreshes, and in all likelihood will be headed to Triple-A in the coming weeks. With solid hit, power, and run tools, he's one to keep an eye on in dynasty formats.

ESPN's Shams Charania reports that the Charlotte Hornets have traded 31-year-old guard
Vasilije Micic to the Milwaukee Bucks for guard/forward
Pat Connaughton. Charlotte also receives two second picks in 2031 and 2032. Milwaukee has been very active this offseason, so it is unclear what the organization has planned for Micic. During the 2024-25 campaign, the 31-year-old veteran guard suited up for 36 games with the Hornets and five with the Suns, averaging 6.6 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per contest.

Another domino in this year's NASCAR "Silly Season" has fallen. It was announced on Tuesday that Trackhouse Racing and Daniel Suarez will part ways at the conclusion of the 2025 season in a mutually agreed-upon situation. A few weeks ago in Mexico City, Suarez noted, "There [are] a lot of things in Trackhouse that are adjusting and changing. Performance-wise, we're not exactly where we want to be — not just in the 99 but in Trackhouse as a company, and we have to make sure that we fix that before we want to go any longer. This goes really both ways." Suarez currently ranks 29th in the points standings and will likely need a win to make the Playoffs this year.

Tampa Bay Rays outfield prospect
Colton Ledbetter earned Southern League Player of the Week honors after a hot six-game stretch from June 23-29 for Double-A Montgomery. The 2023 second-round draft pick went 12-for-23 (.522) with three doubles, a home run, four RBI, eight runs scored, one steal, and a 5:4 BB:K. The outburst pushed his season-long slash line to .280/.362/.414 with 19 extra-base hits (five HR) and 22 steals over 64 games. The Rays' 25th-ranked prospect is striking out at an elevated rate of 26.1 percent on the year, but it's an improvement over last year's 28.3 percent at High-A, and somewhat offset by a better-than-average 10.9 percent walk rate. After a 16-homer, 34-steal campaign last year, the 23-year-old continues to show decent pop with some good speed, and could be an intriguing fantasy option when he makes it to the majors, which could be sometime later next year.

MLB.com's Doug Miller reports that Kansas City Royals right-hander
Kyle Wright (oblique) suffered a Grade 2 left-oblique strain and will be shut down for at least two weeks at Triple-A Omaha. Wright hasn't pitched in the big leagues all year in 2025 while recovering from right-shoulder surgery, and now he's going to miss more time after pulling himself from his start last Friday with Omaha after he felt tightness in his side. The 30-year-old had surgery on his shoulder late in 2023 and missed all of the 2024 campaign while rehabbing. The former first-rounder by the Atlanta Braves in 2017 out of Vanderbilt had a 21-win season with the Braves in 2022, but that's been his outlier in six MLB seasons. It's starting to look more and more likely that Wright will be a long shot to provide any help to the Royals' big-league staff in the second half of 2025.

Perhaps the biggest coming-out event of last season for Luke Clanton came at this week's John Deere Classic, where the then-amateur posted bookend 63s to finish tied for second. His distance off the tee is a help at most places (311.6), and while it certainly isn't a bad thing here, accuracy is usually the more important of the two. The former Seminole is only averaging negative strokes gained metrics in one area: putting (-0.045). However, it's also important to note that his good weeks with the flat stick are solid for someone with clear struggles in this area. Given who we've seen get their first career wins here, it seems like a spot meant for the 21-year-old to at least scare again.

Chicago Cubs general manager Carter Hawkins says it's "reasonable" to expect right-hander
Javier Assad (oblique) to contribute in the second half of the season and referenced August/September as a tentative timetable. It's been an injury-plagued season for Assad, who initially strained his left oblique during spring training and then aggravated the injury in late April while rehabbing. The 27-year-old resumed a throwing program in late May, but he obviously has a ways to go before he'll be able to contribute to the Cubs' pitching staff in the second half. When Assad does return from the injured list, fantasy managers should probably expect him to be in a relief role, which will limit his already minimal fantasy impact down the stretch. In a full-time starting role in 2024, Assad went 7-6 with a 3.73 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 124:63 K:BB in 147 frames.

Boston Red Sox rookie right-hander
Hunter Dobbins (elbow) is scheduled to make a minor-league rehab start with Double-A Portland this weekend against Double-A New Hampshire, according to a source. Dobbins has been on the 15-day injured list since June 21 with a right-elbow strain, but he could rejoin Boston's starting rotation next week if his rehab outing goes off without any hitches this weekend. The 25-year-old has handled himself well in his first 12 MLB outings (10 starts) in 2025, going 4-1 with a 4.10 ERA (3.86 FIP) and 1.26 WHIP with 43 strikeouts and 16 walks in 59 1/3 innings pitched. Even though Dobbins is in the 16th percentile in strikeout rate, he has an xERA of under 4.00 and a walk rate that's in the 76th percentile. He's also in the 68th percentile in barrel rate, so he's managed to avoid enough hard contact to get by without high-end swing-and-miss stuff.

Luke Kennard has agreed to a one-year, $11 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks. Kennard lands in Atlanta after spending the past two-plus seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies. During the 2024-25 season, he averaged 8.9 points, 3.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.7 three-pointers while shooting 43.3 percent from three-point range in 22.6 minutes per contest. The 29-year-old brings veteran leadership and depth to the Hawks on the wing.

Zack Gelof (ribs) is expected to play back-to-back full nine-inning games for Triple-A Las Vegas this week and could be activated from the 60-day injured list to make his 2025 season debut soon after that, according to MLB.com. If Gelof avoids a setback, there's a good chance he'll be available for the team's series in Sacramento that starts on Friday versus the San Francisco Giants. The 25-year-old has yet to play this year after initially fracturing the hamate bone in his right wrist in spring training that eventually required surgery. Then he suffered a stress reaction in his ribs in early May. Gelof is nearing his return, though, and should be scooped up in deep-mixed fantasy leagues by anyone that's looking for more power and speed from the second base position. The former second-rounder hit 17 homers and stole 25 bags in 138 games in 2024.

Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt has been in the thick of trade rumors this offseason, and the team's activity on the trade market on Monday has only fanned the flames of those rumors. However, NFL.com's Bobby Kownack reports that the Steelers have no intention of trading Watt and remain focused on agreeing to a deal with the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Watt is heading into the final season of his four-year, $112 million contract extension that he signed ahead of the 2021 campaign, and the Wisconsin product has tallied at least 11.5 sacks in each of the three full seasons he has played in since. Watt is one of the premier defensive players in the NFL, so it would be a surprise if the Steelers did not eventually come to an agreement with their 2017 first-round selection. In 121 career games, Watt has tallied 462 tackles (331 solo), 108 sacks, 33 forced fumbles, 12 fumble recoveries, seven interceptions, 50 pass deflections, and 75.5 run stuffs.

De'Aaron Fox, the Kings have added Schroder to provide depth and a veteran presence. The 31-year-old will backup starting point guard
Malik Monk. During the 2024-25 regular season, Schroder played for three different teams, suiting up for the Nets, Warriors, and Pistons, while averaging 13.1 points, 5.4 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game in 75 appearances.

Ryne Nelson has been dealing with more soreness than usual after his outings, which prompted manager Torey Lovullo to give him a quick hook in the team's win over the San Francisco Giants on Monday. Nelson was also hit by a comebacker on his leg recently and is recovering from that. The 27-year-old looked good in a no-decision in the series opener, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out seven and walking one in 6 2/3 frames. In addition to recent soreness, Nelson has been on a pitch count limit as he gets stretched out. Remember, he began the year in the bullpen and was thrust into a starting role when
Corbin Burnes (elbow) was lost for the season. The 88 pitches Nelson threw on Monday were a season-high. Nelson should be able to make his next start next week against the Kansas City Royals.
