Nick Kurtz Activated, Playing on Monday
Nick Kurtz (hip) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Monday. Kurtz is back in the mix after being sidelined since late May due to a hip flexor strain. The rookie first baseman needed only one rehab appearance before rejoining the A's roster. He'll serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth against Yusei Kikuchi on Monday. Fantasy managers who have Kurtz rostered should make sure to get him in their lineups ahead of first pitch.Source: Athletics PR
Athletics rookie first baseman Max Scherzer Tentatively Set for Rehab Start on Friday
Max Scherzer (thumb) is feeling good and is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday or Wednesday, tentatively followed by a 60-65-pitch minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, according to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith. Scherzer will likely need two or more rehab starts on the farm before potentially rejoining the Blue Jays' starting rotation. The future Hall of Famer threw a 50-pitch, three-inning simulated game on Sunday while using all of his pitches, according to manager John Schneider. Inflammation in his troublesome right thumb has limited the 40-year-old veteran to just one start all year in his first season with Toronto. Scherzer should immediately rejoin the rotation when he's ready, but fantasy managers definitely should temper expectations for the aging former ace.Source: Sportsnet.ca - Ben Nicholson-Smith
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage Being Promoted to Double-A
Source: Sportsnet.ca - Shi Davidi
Toronto Blue Jays top pitching prospect Trey Yesavage is being promoted to Double-A New Hampshire and will make his first start later this week, an industry source told Sportsnet's Shi Dividi. Yesavage dominated the Single-A levels and will now get around half a season to show what he's got against better competition. The 21-year-old former 20th overall pick in 2024 out of East Carolina went a combined 4-0 with a 2.13 ERA and 0.85 WHIP with 88 strikeouts and 19 walks in 50 2/3 innings over 11 starts with High-A Vancouver and Single-A Dunedin to earn the promotion. Per MLB Pipeline, Yesavage is the team's No. 2 overall prospect, and he could make his big-league debut at some point next year if he continues to show well in the minors. He's physical at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds and has plenty of swing-and-miss stuff with his fastball, slider and splitter.Ryan Weathers to be Evaluated for Shoulder Discomfort
Ryan Weathers (shoulder) is back in Miami to be evaluated for shoulder discomfort, according to MLB.com's Christina De Nicola. Weathers had a rough start on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays, as he showed diminished velocity and then was hit in the head by catcher Nick Fortes between innings. His head is fine, but the Marlins are worried about his shoulder after he was seen flexing his arm during his outing over the weekend. The 25-year-old southpaw started the year on the injured list with a forearm injury, which is why he's been limited to only five starts. In his five starts, Weathers has a strong 3.28 ERA (4.40 FIP) and 1.05 WHIP with 23 strikeouts and eight walks in 24 2/3 innings pitched. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day, but his next start is firmly in jeopardy, and he could be in danger of going on the IL for the second time in 2025.Source: MLB.com - Christina De Nicola
Miami Marlins left-hander Leody Taveras Designated for Assignment
Leody Taveras for assignment and recalled outfielder Dominic Canzone from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. Taveras began the season with the Texas Rangers and hit .241 (19-for-79) with a homer, eight RBI and six steals before being cut and scooped off waivers by the Mariners. The 26-year-old only made it 28 games with Seattle, going 16-for-92 (.174) with two homers, nine RBI and three stolen bases. Taveras had double-digit home runs the previous two seasons with Texas and had a career-high 23 stolen bases last year, but he'll now be searching for his third organization of the season unless he clears waivers and accepts an outright assignment to Tacoma. With Luke Raley (oblique) on the injured list, the lefty-hitting Canzone could see action in right field against right-handers in Seattle going forward.Source: Mariners PR

Connor Thomas to Undergo Elbow Surgery
Connor Thomas (elbow) had a setback after appearing in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on May 25 and will have surgery to remove loose bodies in his elbow, according to MLB.com. Thomas had been recovering from left-elbow arthritis and will now miss even more time. He initially landed on the 15-day injured list on April 8 and was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 18. The 27-year-old southpaw will now miss even more time, meaning he won't be an option for Milwaukee's bullpen until some point in the second half of the season, if at all. Thomas only appeared in two games in his first taste of major-league action earlier this year before getting hurt, and he allowed a whopping 12 earned runs on 12 hits (three homers) while walking two and fanning five in just 5 1/3 innings.Source: MLB.com
Milwaukee Brewers rookie left-hander Blake Perkins Could Play in Minor-League Games in Mid-June
Blake Perkins (shin) is running at "90-95%" and could play in minor-league games in Arizona in mid-June. Perkins' progress from a right-shin fracture stalled in the middle of May, but now it sounds like he's on the right track. Barring a setback from the 28-year-old, he could return to the big-league roster and make his 2025 debut in late June. The switch-hitting outfielder fractured his shin in spring training. When Perkins is able to return, he'll most likely serve as outfield depth for the Brew Crew, limiting his fantasy appeal. In 121 games with Milwaukee in 2024 in his second year in the majors, Perkins hit .240/.316/.332 with a below-average .647 OPS, six home runs, 13 doubles, two triples, 43 RBI, 23 stolen bases and 54 runs scored in 434 plate appearances. Speed is the biggest draw with Perkins in fantasy.Source: MLB.com
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that outfielder Brandon Woodruff Could Throw This Week
Brandon Woodruff (elbow) was hit on the right elbow by a 108.2 mph comebacker with Triple-A Nashville on June 3 in what was supposed to be his final minor-league rehab start. However, Woodruff is only dealing with bruising. With the swelling going down, the Brewers are hopeful that the 32-year-old veteran could resume throwing early this week. He could then move to a bullpen session around June 17 and throw live batting practice shortly after. Woodruff hasn't pitched in the big leagues since September of 2023 after having right-shoulder surgery that knocked him out all of last year. He's posted a 2.11 ERA with 34 strikeouts over 38 1/3 innings in his nine rehab starts and is poised to help fantasy managers in all formats once he eventually makes his 2025 debut, which could come in late June.Source: MLB.com - Joey Pollizze

Austin Hays Could Return This Week
Austin Hays (foot) is eyeing a possible return from the 10-day injured list by the end of the series this week against the Cleveland Guardians that runs from Monday through Wednesday. Hays is on the IL with a left-foot contusion but ditched his walking boot last week and apparently will rejoin the big-league roster without going on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 29-year-old is very injury-prone and has already been on the IL multiple times in 2025, but when healthy, he's seen regular playing time in left field for Cincy and has swung the bat well. In 119 at-bats this year, the former third-rounder by the Baltimore Orioles in 2016 has hit .303 with six home runs, 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and two steals. If he's available on your league's waiver wire, scoop him up now.Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Gordon Wittenmyer
The Cincinnati Enquirer's Gordon Wittenmyer reports that Cincinnati Reds outfielder Hunter Greene Sent for Second Opinion
Hunter Greene (groin) is headed to Los Angeles on Monday for a second medical opinion on his back and his injured groin, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Gordon Wittenmyer. Greene landed on the 15-day injured list last Wednesday with a right-groin strain and is now also apparently dealing with a back ailment. Second opinions usually aren't a good sign, but the good news is that Greene isn't dealing with an injury to his right arm. The hard-throwing 25-year-old is eligible to come off the IL on June 19, but it remains to be seen if that will happen, and it will likely depend on what doctors say on Monday. Until he's able to return, veteran left-hander Wade Miley is expected to work in Cincy's starting rotation. Greene needs to be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy formats while he recovers.Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Gordon Wittenmyer
Cincinnati Reds right-hander Ryan Waldschmidt Homers in Back-to-Back Games
Ryan Waldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored, and he got on base once via a hit by pitch. It was the second consecutive game with a home run for Arizona's third-ranked prospect and eighth home run of the season, now riding a six-game hit streak. The 22-year-old is slashing .272/.430/.461 in 56 games at High-A Hillsboro and is walking (46) more than he is striking out (43). The 31st pick in the 2024 MLB Draft has also stolen seven bases for the Hops, and with his all-around skillset, the 6-foot-2 should earn some at-bats at Double-A by season's end.Source: MiLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Michael McGreevy Sent Back Down
Michael McGreevy and right-hander Matt Svanson to Triple-A Memphis and recalled right-handers Riley O'Brien and Chris Roycroft from Memphis in corresponding moves. McGreevy, the club's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will head back to the minors for more seasoning after making a spot start in Sunday's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers in what was just his fourth MLB start after debuting last year. The 24-year-old took the loss against the defending World Series champions and allowed four runs on eight hits while walking none and striking out five in six innings of work. McGreevy has the makings of a solid big-league starter eventually and has held his own in his first six big-league outings (six starts), posting a 2.34 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with 28 K's and only three walks in 34 2/3 frames.Source: St. Louis Cardinals
