Flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja picked up a second-round submission win over former Rizin champion and UFC newcomer Kai Asakura in the main event of UFC 310 on Saturday. In the first round, Pantoja landed a big left hand that almost dropped Asakura, but Asakura was able to recover. In the second round, Pantoja shot for a takedown, got Asakura down, quickly got his back and finished him via rear-naked choke. In 7:05 of action, Pantoja landed three takedowns and 33 significant strikes. This past Saturday, Alexander Volkov was outpointed by former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane in a controversial split decision that went down on the main card of UFC 310. Volkov was aiming to exact revenge on Gane, having lost to him in their first bout in 2021 by unanimous decision. Despite Volkov appearing to edge the final two rounds, two judges scored the fight 29-28 for Gane, with one judge favoring Volkov. It was a competitive fight, but most fans thought Volkov should have won the fight. Gane also injured himself in the first round and suffered broken toes and will likely not be able to return to action until the first half of 2025. On the main card of UFC 310, Doo Ho Choi defeated Nate Landwehr by a third-round TKO. Choi imposed his will from the opening bell, dominated Landwehr on the feet and was winning the grappling exchanges. In the third round, Choi caught Landwehr in a deep crucifix and started punishing him with punches and elbows, forcing the referee to stop the fight. Nate Landwehr suffered a third-round TKO loss to Doo Ho Choi at UFC 310 on Saturday. Landwehr entered the fight as the favorite, but he struggled on his feet. Landwehr was also taken down three times in the first two rounds as he was able to control him. In the third round, Landwehr got taken down again and Choi was able to put him into the crucifix. Kron Gracie suffered a third-round knockout loss to Bryce Mitchell at UFC 310. Gracie ended a year-and-a-half-long layoff. The Brazilian is a great grappler and he pulled guard several times. However, Gracie struggled on the mat, outside of one armbar attempt. Then, in the third round, Gracie was slammed and Mitchell landed a big elbow that knocked him out. With the loss, Gracie fell to 5-3 as a pro and 1-3 in the UFC and is on a three-fight losing streak. He's likely to be released from the UFC.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

Bryce Mitchell scored a third-round KO win over Kron Gracie at UFC 310. Mitchell ended a year-long layoff and was a massive favorite against Gracie. The American was able to control the fight as Gracie couldn't do much off his back, outside of one armbar attempt. Ian Machado Garry suffered a five-round decision loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov in a No. 1 contender fight at UFC 310. Garry took the fight on short notice and early on, he struggled with Rakhmonov's strength in the clinch. The Irishman did start to have success in the third round on the feet. Then, in the fifth round, he got ahold of Rakhmonov's back and nearly submitted him but Rakhmonov was able to fight out of it. Shavkat Rakhmonov improved to 19-0 with his five-round decision win over Ian Machado Garry on Saturday at UFC 310. Rakhmonov was supposed to fight Belal Muhammad for the welterweight title, but after the champ pulled out he took on Garry. Rakhmonov controlled the first couple of rounds with his clinch work, but Garry did have success in the third round. Entering the fifth round, Rakhmonov fought off a choke attempt and was able to survive. When the final horn sounded he got the decision win to improve to 19-0, but his 100% finish rate went away.
