Gabriel Moreno was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, although it doesn't appear to be injury-related. It was reportedly a manager's decision, but more details may come out later after the game.
Jose Herrera is starting behind the dish in his place. It could just be a decision to give Moreno an extra day off to clear his head, as he has struggled so far in 2025. He's batting just .233 with no home runs and three doubles on the season.

The Cincinnati Reds announced on Tuesday that they sent right-hander
Rhett Lowder (forearm) on a minor-league rehab assignment to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. Lowder, the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is being brought along slowly after he missed all of spring training due to a strained right forearm. The former seventh overall pick in 2023 out of Wake Forest made his big-league debut last year and looked great in six starts (30 2/3 innings), allowing only four earned runs and striking out 22. However, he also was a bit wild and walked 14. The 23-year-old will surely need a lengthy rehab assignment before he's removed from the injured list, and when he's ready, there's a chance that he could be sent back down to the minors for a little more seasoning. Remember, they brought him up at the end of last year only because their starting rotation was ravaged by injuries.

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander
Max Scherzer (thumb) played catch at Angel Stadium before the team's game against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday and plans to face live hitters on Wednesday, according to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith. Scherzer continues to build up as his thumb feels better, but he said the bigger test will be how his thumb responds the day after he pitches in a game setting. The 40-year-old three-time Cy Young winner made just one start for the Blue Jays in the regular season before landing on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right thumb. He's had several setbacks along the way but is hoping that he can get over the hump when he resumes facing live hitters. The eight-time All-Star can still be useful in mixed fantasy leagues if he's healthy, but he's not as dominant as he once was and has been battling various ailments the last couple of years.

Coby Mayo to see action at third base. Mayo struggled in his 17-game MLB debut a year ago and is hitless in his first six plate appearances since he was called up. Westburg should return to being the club's primary third baseman when he's activated, even though he's started slow by hitting .217/.265/.391 with four homers and six RBI in his first 92 at-bats before his injury.

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander
Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) is making another minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Nashville against Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday night, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Todd Rosiak. Woodruff has looked good in his four rehab starts to this point with High-A Wisconsin (two starts) and Nashville (two starts), allowing six runs (five earned) on 15 hits while walking six and striking out 16 in 18 1/3 innings. The 32-year-old made it through 5 2/3 frames in his last outing last Wednesday, and if everything goes well on Tuesday night, he might need just one more minor-league outing before coming off the injured list to make his 2025 debut for the Brewers. Woodruff has been an ace in the past, but fantasy managers might want to temper expectations initially after he missed all of the 2024 campaign due to right-shoulder surgery.

Jeffrey Springs. Believe it or not, this is Raleigh's first game off of the 2025 season. The 28-year-old switch-hitting backstop remains one of the better fantasy catching options for power and run production, as he's currently slashing .240/.359/.574 with a .933 OPS, 12 home runs, 23 RBI, 23 runs scored and even four stolen bases. The next closest catcher in the majors has nine home runs (
Logan O'Hoppe). Garver isn't the worst DFS sleeper at the position. The 34-year-old is hitting .231 (12-for-52) this year with a homer, six RBI, six runs and two steals. He has one hit in four career at-bats against the lefty Springs.

Randy Arozarena (hamstring) has returned to the starting lineup for Tuesday's contest in Sacramento against the division-rival Athletics and left-hander
Jeffrey Springs, serving as the designated hitter while batting cleanup. Arozarena left Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers early with a tweaked hamstring, but he'll be back on Tuesday after missing the series opener on Monday against the A's.
Miles Mastrobuoni is starting in left field and batting ninth for the M's. The 30-year-old Arozarena has hit just .224 (26-for-116) this year but has delivered five home runs, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored and eight stolen bases in his first 32 games. He has faced the lefty Springs four times in his career and has one hit. Arozarena has been better against lefties this year, going 10-for-38 with two of his three home runs against them.

Ben Lively. This will be the first time that Bell has played since injuring his groin last Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. The 32-year-old veteran left-handed slugger still has lots of raw power from the left side, but he's been extremely inconsistent so far in 2025 and is typically all or nothing. Bell is hitting .139 (15-for-108) on the season with five home runs, 14 RBI and 12 runs scored in his first 30 games this year. In his last five games, Bell has gone 3-for-19 with a home run. Despite all his swing and miss, Bell has averaged 21 home runs over the last four years.

Corbin Burnes (shoulder) said he's still tracking toward a return to the starting rotation on Saturday against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers. Burnes needs to check one last box with a successful bullpen session on Wednesday. The 30-year-old veteran said he had a cortisone injection last Friday to help him with right-shoulder inflammation that caused the team to skip him from his last start on Monday. Instead, he threw off flat ground on Monday and is apparently feeling much better. Burnes is typically a must-start in fantasy each time he toes the rubber, but this Saturday's outing against the dangerous Dodgers would be a time to fade him if there ever was one. Despite dealing with a shoulder issue last time out, he picked up the win over the Mets last Wednesday by going six innings with one earned run, five walks and three strikeouts.

However, last year's American League Cy Young winner will still be a must-start in fantasy against a Texas offense that ranks 27th in the big leagues with a .643 OPS. The 28-year-old left-hander has been strong again in his seven starts in 2025, going 3-2 with a 2.21 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 48 strikeouts in 40 2/3 innings pitched.

Fantasy managers in season-long leagues will want to get him back into their starting lineups. In 12 career at-bats against Anderson, Varsho is hitting .583 with a 1.698 OPS, one home run and five RBI.

Luis Robert Jr. will get a breather on Tuesday against the division-rival Kansas City Royals. With Robert on the bench,

Seth Lugo. Robert will take a much-needed day off after starting each of the team's last 16 games. The 27-year-old hit .241/.371/.483 with four home runs and nine stolen bases over those 16 games. The Cuban outfielder does have 15 steals on the year in 117 at-bats, but he's hitting a disappointing .188 (22 hits) with five home runs, 15 RBI and 19 runs scored as the team's everyday center fielder. Fantasy managers setting DFS lineups can do better than Taylor, who is hitting just .191 (13-for-68) with a homer, six RBI and three steals as a reserve outfielder. He's hitting .091 with a .182 OPS in 11 career at-bats against Lugo.
