3 days agoNew York Knicks forward OG Anunoby (hamstring) won't play in Sunday's playoff matchup with the Pacers. The former Raptor injured his left hamstring in Game 2 and wasn't available for the loss of Friday night. While he is with the team in Indiana and receiving multiple treatment sessions daily, there's a chance he could miss more games moving ahead. Nonetheless, until Anunoby is back on the floor, Precious Achiuwa and Alec Burks should continue to see more minutes. However, Burks scored 14 points in Game 3, so he'll be the preferred DFS option over Achiuwa.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter went 2-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI, and a strikeout in Saturday's 8-2 win over the Houston Astros. Carpenter belted a two-run shot off Cristian Javier in the bottom of the third inning for his first homer of the game. He later took Hunter Brown deep in the bottom of the fourth inning for his second long ball of the night. Entering Saturday's game, Carpenter had gone 18 games without a home run. The 26-year-old is slashing .275/.333/.523 with five home runs, 18 RBI, and 12 runs over 37 games in 2024. Carpenter will look to build off Saturday's massive performance in the season finale against the Astros on Sunday and should be started in most league formats.Source: MLB
3 days agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, a walk, and an additional run scored in Saturday's 7-2 win over the New York Yankees. Arozarena blasted a three-run shot off Nestor Cortes in the third inning to give the Rays a 4-2 lead. His home run went 385 feet with an exit velocity of 102.5 mph. It was his seventh of the season. He later logged an RBI double, driving in four runs in Saturday's game. The 29-year-old is off to a slow start this season, slashing .154/.253/.329 with seven home runs, 17 RBI, 18 runs, and six stolen bases over 39 games. Arozarena will look to build off Saturday's performance and should remain in fantasy lineups despite the slow start.Source: MLB
3 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (back) was removed from Saturday's game versus the San Diego Padres due to back tightness. According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, Ohtani's back tightened up. The concern level right now is "minimal," but the Dodgers are leaning toward giving Ohtani the day off on Sunday. They'll see how he feels in the morning. The 29-year-old went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored before exiting. Ohtani is off to a great start with the Dodgers this season, slashing .352/.423/.667 with 11 home runs, 27 RBI, 33 runs, and nine stolen bases over 40 games. Ohtani is considered day-to-day for now, and fantasy managers will have to check back on Sunday to see if he is in the lineup.Source: Jack Harris
3 days agoAtlanta Braves left-hander Max Fried (3-1) allowed three walks while striking out five over seven scoreless and hitless innings in Saturday's 4-1 win over the New York Mets. The 30-year-old was removed after 109 pitches. Braves manager Brian Snitker pulled Fried from continuing to pursue the individual no-hitter and turned to the bullpen to close it out. The team's no-hitter was broken when Raisel Iglesias surrendered a solo shot to J.D. Martinez during the ninth inning. Fried has been dealing lately and has not allowed a run in three of his last four starts. Overall, he owns a 3.57 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 37:17 K: BB across 45 1/13 innings in 2024. Fried has been pitching well recently and should remain in all fantasy lineups for his next start Friday against the San Diego Padres.Source: MLB
3 days agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Michael Conforto (hamstring) exited Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds due to a strained right hamstring. Conforto was removed for a pinch-runner after hitting a single in the fourth inning of Saturday's game. He went 1-for-2 with a strikeout before exiting. The 31-year-old is considered day-to-day. According to Giants manager Bob Melvin, Conforto's hamstring "feels mild." Conforto will undergo an MRI on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury. Luis Matos was pulled after two at-bats from the Triple-A Sacramento game and would replace Conforto on the roster. Matos was slashing .221/.312/.361 with three home runs and three steals over 30 games for Triple-A Sacramento in 2024.Source: John Shea
3 days agoDaniel Suarez starts 19th on Sunday afternoon from Darlington Raceway. The Trackhouse Racing driver did managed a tenth in May of 2022 including one stage point. However, Suarez has not led a single lap in the No. 99 Chevy. The Mexican ran a 30-lap interval that was well off from what some expected (nearly 30.75 seconds). It appears Suarez lost a bit much in the speed department. If he can avoid the accident bug (see Darlington twice in 2023), Suarez has a chance to at least improve from a position standpoint.Source: NASCAR.com
3 days agoRicky Stenhouse Jr. may go for some stage points on Sunday. The JTG Daugherty Racing driver was able to snag points in three of the four stages in 2023 at Darlington. The driver in the No. 47 Chevy has never led a lap in his career on the intermediate track. Darlington is a unique track with some tendencies like Homestead or Dover. However, the oval has some intense banking and high tire wear. Typically that does not favor a driver like Stenhouse Jr. It might be another long afternoon and evening for the driver.Source: NASCAR.com
3 days agoChicago Cubs third baseman Christopher Morel (knee) was removed from Saturday's game versus the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fifth inning with right knee soreness. The 24-year-old appeared to have hurt his right knee while sliding into second base attempting a steal in the top of the third inning. He went 1-for-3 with a strikeout before exiting. Morel is considered day-to-day and will undergo further evaluation on his right knee after the game. Nick Madrigal replaced Morel in Saturday's contest. Madrigal would see an uptick in playing time if Morel were to miss any games, but he is not on the fantasy radar in most league formats after hitting .208 (11-for-53) in 2024.Source: Meghan Montemurro
3 days agoJoey Logano will begin the Goodyear 400 from the 14th position on Sunday afternoon. The Team Penske driver historically performs quite well on the Darlington track. His average finish of 9.3 the past three years includes a win and three Top 10 results. The No. 22 Ford attempts to break the Ford drought in 2024. Logano led 171 combined laps in 2022 but zero in 2023. Worse, Logano did not net any Top 10 results on stages. That being said, the driver can strike at any time on the 1.366-mile track.Source: NASCAR.com
3 days agoTexas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter (back) was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Colorado Rockies due to lower-back stiffness. The 21-year-old has a history of lower back issues, and the Rangers are being cautious with their young outfielder. He is considered day-to-day for now, with his next chance to suit up being the series finale on Sunday against the Colorado Rockies. Carter is slashing .216/.303/.416 with five home runs, 15 RBI, 23 runs, and two stolen bases over 142 plate appearances in 2024. Travis Jankowski replaced Carter in Saturday's lineup and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the Rangers' 8-3 loss to the Rockies. Jankowski would see an uptick in playing time if Carter were to miss any games, but he is mainly a speculative add in AL-Only league formats after slashing .239/.286/.326 over 25 games in 2024.Source: Evan Grant
3 days agoDerek Kraus had his first runs in the No. 16 Kaulig Racing car on Saturday. Qualifying was a bit rougher as Kraus ended up 32nd at 0.546 seconds behind Tyler Reddick's pole time. Kraus was around that interval in practice too. His best lap was 0.539 seconds off from Michael McDowell. Kraus ran 28 laps in all. His hope is that this pays off as the race at the end. Darlington can become a matter of survival. This may aid Kraus as he tries to improve his position after 400 miles on Sunday afternoon.Source: NASCAR.com
3 days agoDaniel Hemric did not fare well at Kansas last week. He moved up to 30th from 33rd. That does make six straight races of positive place differential. The Kaulig Racing driver starts 29th from Darlington on Sunday afternoon. It may set up for a seventh straight race of DFS potential. Anyway, Hemric has done well on tracks like Daytona and Talladega. Even Atlanta saw a +8 place differential. Hemric did run a few laps around 29 seconds though. It will be intriguing to see what happens on Sunday afternoon. Source: NASCAR.com
3 days agoSaturday was only one game, but long-suffering Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. managers received welcomed news in the form of a 4-for-5, three-RBI performance in the team's 10-8 win over the Minnesota Twins. Guerrero tied the score at 8-8 with a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh to give him 19 RBI this season. However, all four of his hits were singles, and while his .272 batting average is acceptable, Guerrero's .391 slugging percentage continues to be a source of discontent. He has just one home run since April 12 and only 10 extra-base hits. Overall, Guerrero is slashing .272/.360/.391 with four home runs, 19 RBI, 14 runs, and a stolen base over 39 games in 2024. Source: ESPN.com
4 days agoDespite allowing a two-out double to Minnesota Twins outfielder Max Kepler, Toronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano picked up his sixth save of the season in Saturday's 10-8 win at Rodgers Centre. Romano avoided allowing an earned run for the first time in three appearances in May, lowering his ERA to 4.15. An encouraging stat for fantasy managers is that Romano struck out two batters on Saturday, only the second time he has done so in 2024. His current 7.0 K/9 is light years from Romano's 11.0 K/9 last season. Despite the drop in K/9, Romano is a top-five fantasy closer with six saves, 4.15 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and an 8:2 K: BB across 8 2/3 innings in 2024. Source: ESPN.com
4 days agoFree-agent linebacker Bud Dupree has reportedly signed a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. Dupree met with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons in addition to the Chargers. The 31-year-old has played with both the Steelers and Falcons during his career so it appears Dupree was looking for a new home. The veteran linebacker still has something left in the tank. He recorded 6.5 sacks last season with Atlanta. Those 6.5 sacks were the most for Dupree since the 2020 season. His addition should be a solid boost for this defensive unit heading into next season.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
4 days agoPhiladelphia Phillies infielder Bryson Stott was the hero of the day in the team's 8-3 over the Miami Marlins on Saturday as his bases-clearing triple in the top of the sixth inning broke the game open. Stott, who finished 2-for-5 with a run scored, added his fourth RBI of the day with an infield single in the top of the eighth to boost his batting average to .257 this season. Over the past 15 games, the second baseman has driven in 16 runs while sporting a .400 OBP, making him a must-start in all league formats.Source: ESPN.com
4 days agoBoston Red Sox rookie outfielder Wilyer Abreu hopes Saturday's solo homer in the 4-2 win over the Washington Nationals is a sign in the right direction. Abreu hit his third dinger of the season, tying the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning. It was just his fifth hit in May as he came into Saturday's play batting a paltry .190 in 23 at-bats. The 24-year-old will enter Sunday's series finale against the Nationals with a .284/.378/.480 slash line with three home runs, 14 RBI, 18 runs, and five stolen bases.Source: CBSSports.com
4 days agoThe Denver Broncos have released wide receiver Phillip Dorsett. The veteran wideout was already a longshot to make the roster. The 31-year-old joined the Broncos last season and failed to make a catch during his two appearances. Dorsett has bounced around quite a bit throughout his time in the league. Dorsett is viewed more as a depth option than an actual impact player on a roster. He could sign elsewhere before the season starts, but his chances of having fantasy value are low.Source: Chris Tomasson
4 days agoBoston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen retired all three batters he faced on Saturday as he picked up his sixth save of the year in a 4-2 win over the Washington Nationals at Fenway Park. Jansen fanned two of the three batters who came to the plate, with 12 of his 16 pitches finding the strike zone. He lowered his ERA to 2.84 in 12 2/3 innings this season and has yet to allow a home run. His 13.1 K/9 rate is Jansen's highest since averaging 14.4 K/9 during the 2017 season with the then-National League champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Jansen in all league formats. Source: ESPN.com
4 days agoFree-agent wide receiver Albert Wilson has decided to retire from professional football after seven seasons. Wilson joined the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2014 season. He spent four seasons with the Chiefs, and Wilson achieved a career-high 554 receiving yards during his final season with the team. After that, Wilson joined the Miami Dolphins for the next three seasons. He was fairly lackluster during his time with the Dolphins. He bounced around with the Raiders and Vikings but hasn't seen the field since the 2021 season. Wilson will finish his career with 218 receptions, 2,499 yards, and 12 touchdowns.Source: Sports Illustrated
4 days agoBaltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg delivered the game-winning single in the bottom of the 11th inning to cap off a 4-for-5 day in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Westburg, whose batting average is now at .301, opened Saturday's scoring with an RBI double in the bottom of the second, now has hits in five straight games and comes into Sunday's play with six homers and 26 RBI to go along with a .867 OPS. Saturday's game-winner was his second walk-off hit of the season for Westburg, who came into the season without ever recording one in his entire career. The 25-year-old is off to a solid start in 2024, slashing .301/.345/.522 with six home runs, 26 RBI, 20 runs, and five stolen bases across 36 games.Source: ESPN.com
4 days agoNew York Mets rookie right-hander Christian Scott (0-1) was tagged with the loss in Saturday's 4-1 defeat to the Atlanta Braves. His eight strikeouts over six innings offered a positive in the rookie's second big league start and first start at Citi Field. Scott allowed three earned runs on six hits, including Orlando Arcia's two-run homer in the top of the third. The 24-year-old has struck out 14 batters and three walks in his first 12 2/3 innings and will go into his next start this Thursday at the Phillies with a solid 2.84 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Despite the tough matchup against the Phillies, fantasy managers can use Scott as a streamer in Week 8.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoOakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is on the bench Saturday night against the Seattle Mariners. Kyle McCann will get the start behind the plate and bat in the sixth spot. Langeliers it hitting .212 with nine home runs, 24 RBI, and 16 runs so far this year. This appears to be just a maintenance day off for Langeliers, who is hitting .333 with three home runs and 11 RBI in May thus far. Look for him to be back in the lineup for the series finale with the Mariners on Sunday afternoon.Source: Oakland Athletics
4 days agoThe Detroit Tigers have announced that they will recall right-hander Matt Manning to make a start on Monday against the Miami Marlins. Manning will take the spot of veteran Kenta Maeda, who was placed on the IL with a viral illness. Manning has started three games this year for the Tigers, going 0-1 with a 4.24 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. In a small sample size, Manning has 17 strikeouts in 17 innings and his 85.5 average exit velocity is in the 92nd percentile in MLB. It is unknown how long Maeda will be out with his illness, but Manning could make two or three starts in the interim.Source: Detroit Tigers
4 days agoRookie outfielder Evan Carter is out of the Texas Rangers lineup on Saturday night against the Colorado Rockies. Carter will head to the bench, ceding left field to veteran Travis Jankowski. Carter is hitting .216 with five home runs, two stolen bases, 15 RBI and 23 runs scored. This will be Carter's first day off in May, where he has struggled to a .206 batting average with no home runs, four RBI, and 13 strikeouts in his last 37 plate appearances. Expect the rookie to be back in the lineup for the series finale tomorrow,Source: Texas Rangers
4 days agoDallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger will look to post a second consecutive win in Saturday's Game 3 against Colorado. After giving up four goals on 26 shots in the series opener, Oettinger stopped 28 pucks in a 5-3 victory on Thursday, helping the Stars tie the series at one. Dallas' No. 1 has previously won back-to-back starts only once this postseason -- he put together a three-game winning streak in the first round against Vegas. Overall, Oettinger has gone 5-4-0 in the playoffs, allowing 2.24 goals with a .914 save percentage.Source: ESPN
4 days agoSan Diego Padres catcher Luis Campusano will take a seat Saturday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Kyle Higashioka will start behind the plate for the Friars and will catch knuckleballer Matt Waldron. Campusano is hitting .283 with three home runs, 23 RBI and 17 runs scored. This looks to be a standard day off for Campusano in the second game of the series. Higashioka is hitting just .194 (6-for-31) on the year with a homer and two RBI and will be a catching option to avoid in DFS in the nine-hold for the Padres against Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander James Paxton.Source: San Diego Padres
4 days agoThe New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (intercostal) was removed from the Saturday afternoon tilt with the Atlanta Braves with intercostal irritation. Nimmo appeared to hurt his side on a check swing. Nimmo was able to complete the at-bat but left the game the next half-inning. The team is calling it an irritation, but it feels safe to assume he will have some testing on it this weekend. Nimmo was hitting .300 with two home runs and seven RBI in 37 May plate appearances. Should Nimmo miss time, reserve outfielders Tyrone Taylor and DJ Stewart should see more opportunities for at-bats.Source: New York Mets
4 days agoNew York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin has a chance to set a new franchise record with an eighth consecutive postseason win on Saturday against Carolina. He matched Mike Richter with a seventh straight win on Thursday when Shesterkin produced 45 saves in a 3-2 overtime victory. Another win would also help the Rangers tie a league record for the longest postseason-opening winning streak. Shesterkin has played his part in the success with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage.Source: ESPN
