Nolan Jones 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Tantalizing Power/Speed Combo, But We Need Reconvincing
Nolan Jones was able to put together a 20/20 season, batting .297 with a .395 wOBA and 137 wRC+, becoming one of the trendiest sleeper picks in 2024 drafts. However, the bountiful follow-up fantasy season never came to pass after Jones started the year ice-cold, then hit the IL twice with back problems while also dealing with right knee soreness. The former second-round draft pick had no trouble hitting lefties in '23, slashing .314/.377/.525 against them, but his slash versus LHP fell to .205/.283/.265 in '24, relegating him to a platoon role in the second half. An unsustainable BABIP of .401 in '23 may have telegraphed a drop in productivity, but even doubters likely did not foresee a .227-3-28-28-5 line in 79 games last season. The 26-year-old also strikes out too much with a career K% of 30.4 percent, while owning a poor 72.8 percent Contact%, so don't expect the return of a high batting average. ATC projections see a .248-14-54-58-11 season ahead with a .328 wOBA and 97 wRC+. RotoBaller is slightly more optimistic, ranking Jones at 235 overall, about one round ahead of his NFBC ADP of 249.
