No Timetable For Dustin Pedroia To Play In Games
6 years agoThere is no timetable for when Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia (knee) will get into spring training games. He fielded ground balls on Thursday and took batting practice Friday in what is known by team trainers as a "re-generation day." "I just want to see him play enough innings that he’s ready to play," manager Alex Cora said. "With him, it’s not the at-bats. I think it’s just going out there getting up and down, playing five, six or seven innings and building up the stamina." After having major knee surgery, Pedroia only managed to play in three games last year. Anything he can give them this year will be a plus, but it looks like he might be ready for the regular season. With Brock Holt and Eduardo Nunez also capable at the keystone, however, there's no guarantee Pedroia will play regularly in his age-35 season.
