NBA Opens Inquiry Into James Harden's Situation
1 year agoSources have told ESPN that the NBA has launched an inquiry regarding the situation surrounding James Harden's public criticism of the Philadelphia 76ers' president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey. Harden called Morey a "liar" at the start of the week and said he would "never be a part of an organization that he's a part of." According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne, the NBA is now looking into the situation to determine an understanding of whether Harden was portending a 2023-2024 holdout in violation of the league's collective bargaining agreement -- or had been referencing past contract discussions with the organization that might constitute salary cap circumvention. ESPN's report adds that sources have also told that Harden has privately indicated that his public comments had only been a response to Morey's decision to end trade discussions with the expectation that the former MVP would start the season in Philadelphia.
