Nationals Sign Josh Harrison
4 years agoThe Washington Nationals signed second baseman Josh Harrison to a one-year deal on Monday after he was recently released by the Phillies. Catcher Raudy Read was optioned to the alternate training site in a corresponding move. Harrison spent the first eight years of his career with Pittsburgh, earning an All-Star selection in 2014. He played in just 36 games for the Tigers last year because of injury. The veteran utility man will mainly be a defensive piece for the Nats, having played every position except for catcher, first base and center field in his career. Washington can use Harrison's services with Juan Soto and Carter Kieboom currently unavailable, but he's unlikely to be of much use outside of NL-only leagues for depth in the short term.
