Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis (eye) seems to have avoided a serious injury on Friday. According to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site, Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour doesn't expect to be without Jarvis for long. Jarvis played only a couple of minutes in Friday's win over the Vancouver Canucks, leaving the action after taking a stick to his eye area. The 23-year-old picked up an assist on Friday to continue a prolific campaign. After 17 games, Jarvis leads Carolina with 10 goals and has registered eight assists. While Jarvis isn't expected to be out long-term, he might still have to sit out Saturday's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers. His exit from the lineup would open up a spot for Mark Jankowski, who has been a healthy scratch for four games.--Taavi Pailk
