Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Newhook sustained a broken ankle during Thursday's loss to the Dallas Stars and is expected to miss four months, the team announced on Friday. Newhook was injured early in the second period when he crashed feet-first into the boards. In 2025-26, Newhook has been Montreal's fourth-highest scoring forward, notching 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 17 games. Montreal recalled Jared Davidson from the minors on Friday to fill Newhook's spot in the lineup. The 23-year-old is untested in the NHL but has been a regular scorer in the AHL. In 13 games with the Laval Rocket this season, Davidson has recorded nine goals and 11 points.--Taavi Pailk
