The Boston Red Sox have reinstated first baseman Nathaniel Lowe (personal) from the paternity list and optioned infielder Nick Sogard to Triple-A Worcester. However, Lowe is out of the lineup for the third game in a row on Saturday. Romy Gonzalez will play first base and bat sixth against Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Johan Oviedo. Lowe signed with the Red Sox on Aug. 18 after the Washington Nationals released him, and he has been effective in his first nine games with his new team. Over 32 plate appearances with Boston, Lowe has gone 8-for-27 with one home, seven RBI, five runs scored, and four walks.
