Michael Brantley Smokes First Spring Homer
5 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Michael Brantley went 1-for-2 with one walk, one home run and two runs scored on Friday against the Marlins. It is very early in Spring Training but the veteran already is hitting the ball on the nose. Brantley enjoyed one of his best seasons as a pro last year, slashing .311/.372/.503 with 22 home runs, 40 doubles and 90 runs batted in. The Astros have been surrounded by controversy this offseason but at no point has Brantley's name been tied to the sign-stealing allegations. Fantasy owners are more likely to concern themselves this season with Brantley's health than whether his production might regress. The outfielder should be targeted in the middle rounds come draft time.
