Melvin Gordon III Idle To Begin The Week
3 years agoDenver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon III (hip, thumb) didn't practice to begin the practice week on Wednesday. As long as Gordon can get back on the practice field within the next few days, he should be able to play on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. He and rookie Javonte Williams each saw 15 carries in the Week 15 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Neither back found the end zone after they each scored two touchdowns apiece the previous week. Denver's backfield remains a near-even timeshare between the two. Gordon has had more of a nose for the end zone than Williams, but Williams has more big-play upside and a higher RB2 ceiling. Expect Denver to lean even more on the run with backup quarterback Drew Lock starting this weekend.
