Max Scherzer Likely To Be Traded?
3 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer has become the most impactful player on the trade market, and he is likely to be traded at this point. Around 14 teams reportedly have called on Scherzer, including some teams barely in the postseason race. The veteran right-hander prefers to play on the West Coast if he has to waive his no-trade clause to get a deal done. Due to the structure of Scherzer's contract, the acquiring team wouldn't owe him any money for the rest of the season. However, the acquiring team would still take the competitive balance tax threshold hit to land Scherzer. The 37-year-old right-hander and eight-time All-Star could obviously put any team in contention over the top down the stretch. He's still a fantasy ace as well with his 2.83 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 142 strikeouts in 105 innings (18 starts) this year.
