Matthew Boyd Leaves Early With Elbow Discomfort
1 year agoUpdating a previous report, Detroit Tigers left-hander Matthew Boyd (elbow) left his start early on Monday against the Texas Rangers with left-elbow discomfort. Boyd only made it two-thirds of an inning in the first and allowed a run on a solo home run while striking out two. Fantasy managers will want to check back for updates on his status after the Tigers get the results of tests back either Monday night or Tuesday morning. The good news for Detroit is that if Boyd requires an injured-list stint, they have Matt Manning (foot) returning to the rotation on Tuesday and lefties Eduardo Rodriguez (finger) and Tarik Skubal (elbow) not far behind him. Boyd entered his start on Monday with a 5.37 ERA (4.25 FIP), 1.32 WHIP, 25 walks and 71 K's in 70 1/3 innings over his 14 starts.
