Mason Rudolph 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Veteran QB the Favorite for Backup Job in Pittsburgh
Mason Rudolph to a two-year, $7.5 million contract ($3 million guaranteed) this offseason. The organization is comfortable with Rudolph, who spent the first five years of his career in the Steel City before signing with the Tennessee Titans for the 2024 season. He appeared in eight games (five starts) with Tennessee, throwing for 1,530 yards and nine touchdowns while completing 64.0% of his passes. Rudolph also tossed nine interceptions, and his 61.5 PFF passing grade ranked 53rd out of 75 qualified quarterbacks. He struggles to push the ball down the field. Per PFF, Rudolph ranked 43rd in average depth of target (7.6 yards). He appears poised to serve as Pittsburgh's primary backup behind Aaron Rodgers. However, the Steelers did bring in competition. The team drafted Will Howard out of Ohio State in the sixth round and signed former Dolphin Skylar Thompson. Assuming he wins the job, Rudolph has a decent chance of being called into action. At 41 years old, Rodgers is at a heightened risk of injury. Until that point, Rudolph is not worthy of fantasy consideration.
