3 years agoHouston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado was placed on the bereavement list on Wednesday. Catcher Garrett Stubbs has been recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land to take his place on the roster. Players on the bereavement list have to miss at least three games but no more than seven. Other than for modest power (five home runs), Maldonado hasn't done much for fantasy managers in deep two-catcher leagues, as he's hitting a paltry .181/.269/.296 in 199 at-bats on the season. Stubbs will serve as the short-term backup for Jason Castro, who is batting ninth against Baltimore Orioles right-hander Matt Harvey on Wednesday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
