Mark Vientos Dealing with a Hamstring Injury
Mark Vientos (hamstring) went down with an apparent hamstring injury in the 10th inning of his team's 4-3 win over the Dodgers on Monday night. After entering the game as a pinch-hitter in the designated hitter spot, he grounded out in his second at-bat for the third out of the 10th inning. He fell to the ground and stayed down for a minute before walking off with only a little help from the training staff. After the game, manager Carlos Mendoza said that Vientos was undergoing testing but that it "didn't look good." If Vientos is forced to miss time, prospect Ronny Mauricio could be called on to help fill in. Mauricio is hitting .323 in his 19 games in the minors this season with three homers, six stolen bases, and a .389 wOBA. He can play a variety of infield positions, and his multi-faceted potential makes him a great target in standard leagues if he gets to play in an everyday role for the Mets.
