Marcus Mariota To Have Plenty Of Designed Runs
3 years agoThe Atlanta Falcons plan to run the quarterback more with new signal-caller Marcus Mariota in town. "I think we'd be crazy if we didn't try to roll these guys out of the pocket a little bit," quarterbacks coach Charles London said. "We've got three really athletic guys in our room. As coaches, we have to figure out the best way to get these guys in position to be successful." Mariota rushed for 357 yards in his last season as a full-time starter, while rookie third-rounder Desmond Ridder rushed for 2,180 yards in his college career. Mariota won't have a ton of talent to work with through the air, so we expect to see him scampering around quite a bit, which gives him a little more intrigue as a backup fantasy QB.
