1 year agoKansas City Royals rookie infielder Maikel Garcia (upper body) is not in the lineup on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs. Garcia will start on the bench after leaving Friday's series opener against the Cubs with a recurrence of an upper-body ailment that also kept him out for two games last weekend. The 23-year-old should be considered day-to-day at the moment, but there's a chance he'll need a stint on the injured list if he doesn't improve in short order. Matt Duffy is starting at third base and is batting sixth against Cubs left-hander Justin Steele on Saturday. Garcia has been impressive in his first full big-league season in 2023 after playing in nine games in 2022. He's currently hitting .284 (95-for-335) with four homers, 40 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 43 runs in 89 games.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
