Kyle Hendricks To Come Off Injured List And Start Thursday
2 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks (shoulder) is scheduled to come off the injured list and start against the New York Mets on Thursday, manager David Ross announced after Wednesday's contest. Right-hander Jameson Taillon will be pushed back to Saturday in a better matchup against the Cincinnati Reds. Hendricks, 33, will be making his 2023 debut after recovering from a serious right-shoulder sprain that he suffered in July of last year. The soft-tossing veteran hurler had a 5.75 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, six walks and 20 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings over five minor-league rehab starts for Triple-A Iowa. Hendricks has a place in Chicago's rotation now that he's healthy, but the fact that he misses very few bats makes him a low-upside fantasy option at this point in his career.
