Kody Clemens To Go On Rehab Assignment This Week
6 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies infielder Kody Clemens (back) will go out on a minor-league rehab assignment this week, and it will include regular work in left field. The Phillies optioned outfielder Johan Rojas to Triple-A Lehigh Valley this week, so when Clemens returns, his best chance to crack the Phillies' starting lineup could be in right field against right-handed pitchers. The 28-year-old former third-round pick by the Detroit Tigers in 2018 out of Texas has played in only 17 games with the Phillies this year in his third year in the majors and has gone 10-for-39 (.256) with three home runs, three doubles, a triple, 10 RBI, two walks and 10 strikeouts. Clemens is recovering from lower-back spasms but could be ready to rejoin the big-league roster as a utility man by this weekend or early next week.
