Josh Staumont Should Make Spring Debut Soon
Josh Staumont saw his arrival at camp delayed due to undisclosed reasons. However, he's with the team now and he threw one inning during a simulated game on Thursday. He should be able to make his Cactus League debut soon. The right-handed Staumont was a solid arm out of the bullpen for the Royals last year. He made 26 appearances and posted a 2.45 ERA and 1.40 WHIP while averaging 13.0 K/9. He should be one of the team's primary setup men this year, but could also see some save opportunities if manager Mike Matheny goes with a bit of a committee approach, utilizing Staumont alongside Greg Holland and Scott Barlow.
