Jordan Mason 2023 Player Outlook: Set To Operate As 49ers' No. 3 Running Back
1 year agoFor an undrafted free agent, San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason impressed in his first NFL season in 2022, gaining 258 yards and one touchdown on 43 carries in 16 games (zero starts). His ability to contribute on special teams quickly allowed him to pass Tyrion Davis-Price on the RB depth chart in San Francisco. The Georgia Tech product looks primed to open his second NFL season as the team's No. 3 back behind All-Pro Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell, two RBs that have had their fair share of injuries. Mason is going to go undrafted in most single-year fantasy leagues, but he could quickly become a popular waiver-wire pickup if one or both of CMC and/or Mitchell miss time due to injury. He had a stretch last year from Weeks 13-15 when he racked up 171 rushing yards on 23 carries, showing what he's capable of when he's offered more touches.
