John Tavares Headed Home, Picks the Maple Leafs
6 years agoThe Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to a seven-year pact with John Tavares, the crown jewel of this year's free agent class. Tavares joins a strong young core in Toronto that has the potential to provide more support than Tavares had with the Islanders. According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the expectation is that Tavares will play on a line with Mitchell Marner next season, who led Toronto in points in 2017-2018. While Tavares scored over a point per game for only the third time in his career last season, 84 points in 82 games, he is a solid threat to reach that pace again in Toronto. His usage on the power-play will be important to watch, now that he is not the unquestioned top option on his team, but regardless Tavares will remain an elite fantasy option at center.
