Joe Musgrove Fractures His Toe
2 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Joe Musgrove (toe) suffered a fractured big left toe in the weight room on Monday, according to the team. Manager Bob Melvin said it would be a "minimum of a couple weeks" before Musgrove can throw again, which will put Musgrove's Opening Day roster status in some serious doubt. The good news is that it's not an arm injury for the 30-year-old, but he'll have to be built back up late in spring training and may not be ready to go for the start of the regular season. Musgrove is still an attractive fantasy starter, but this injury puts a damper on his early season value for the Friars. Musgrove was an All-Star for the first time in his career in 2022 and went 10-7 with a career-best 2.93 ERA (3.59 FIP), 1.08 WHIP and 24.9 percent strikeout rate in his 30 regular season starts.
