Ji-Man Choi Could Hit Leadoff Against Righties
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that the team could use Brandon Lowe, Ji-Man Choi or Yoshitomo Tsutsugo in the leadoff spot against right-handed pitchers this year, but Cash really likes the consistency of quality at-bats that the team gets from Choi, so he seems to be the favorite. The South Korean hitter probably won't see everyday at-bats in Tampa's crowded lineup, which means he's not all that attractive in mixed leagues, but he can provide some decent power from the leadoff spot for those in AL-only formats. Choi could also be quite attractive in DFS slates in the leadoff spot against certain right-handers. He hit .261/.363/.459 with 19 home runs and 63 RBI in 410 at-bats in 2019.
