1 year agoDetroit Tigers shortstop Javier Baez has been scratched from Saturday's starting lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays. It's unclear why Baez was scratched, so check back later for more information. With Baez out, Zack Short will start at shortstop for the Tigers and hit eighth against Rays right-hander Aaron Civale. Although he does have double-digit stolen bases (10), Baez has mostly been a disappointment otherwise for fantasy managers in his second season in the Motor City. In his 104 games over 428 plate appearances, he's hitting just .224/.262/.326 with seven home runs, 12 doubles, four triples, 49 RBI and 48 runs scored. The free-swinging Puerto Rican has gone just 7-for-38 (.184) with no home runs, three RBI, a stolen base and nine runs scored in his last 11 games since July 23.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
