Jared Goff 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: Stars Aligned For A Career Year
3 months agoDetroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff aims to build on his impressive 2023 season as he heads into 2024. Last year, Goff threw for 4,575 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, leading the Lions to an NFC Championship Game appearance. In recognition of his performance, the Lions awarded him a four-year, $212 million extension. Goff ranked second in passing yards behind Tua Tagovailoa (4,624) and in pass attempts (605), just behind the Commanders' Sam Howell (612). With critical offensive weapons like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, and David Montgomery returning and the retention of play-caller Ben Johnson, Goff is well-positioned for another strong season. However, his lack of rushing ability—totaling just 21 rushing yards last season—limits his appeal in fantasy leagues, as he must rely heavily on passing yards and touchdowns to make up for his non-existent ground game. A significant advantage for Goff is Detroit's schedule, which features 14 of 17 indoor games in 2024. Goff thrived in dome games last season, completing 70.2% of his passes for over 3,000 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. His performance in domes was similarly strong in 2022. If you're targeting a quarterback later in your drafts this season, Goff is a compelling option.
