James Paxton To Return On Saturday
1 year agoBoston Red Sox left-hander James Paxton will return from the paternity list to start on Saturday against the Oakland Athletics. It will be Paxton's final start of the first half of the season before next week's All-Star break, and he'll be a must-start against one of the worst hitting teams in baseball. The 34-year-old veteran southpaw got a late start to the 2023 season due to injury and has had trouble staying on the field in his career, but he's been outstanding so far in nine starts for Boston this year. Paxton has gone 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA (3.25 FIP), 0.96 WHIP, 13 walks and 61 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched over nine starts. He's allowed more than three earned runs in a start just once this year, and it came back in his third start of the year on May 24.
