New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes started the new season with a two-goal effort, scoring half of his team's goals in Thursday's 4-3 victory over Detroit. Both markers from Hughes came in the second period after Daniel Sprong had given Detroit the lead. His first goal was a power-play tally. The American star needed four shots on target to get the two goals. He was plus-one for the night and even registered four penalty minutes. Hughes was red-hot over the latter half of 2022-23 and appears to have no plans to slow down in the new campaign, having set himself a target of reaching 100 points.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
