Jack Flaherty Expected To Face Hitters This Week
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jack Flaherty (oblique) is expected to throw to hitters this week as he tries to return from a left oblique strain that has kept him out since late May. There is an idea being floated around by the Cardinals of bringing Flaherty and Miles Mikolas back from the injured list early in piggyback roles. That would obviously make Flaherty and Mikolas less attractive from a fantasy perspective, but it's also not guaranteed to happen. Flaherty, 25, is the Cardinals right-hander that needs to be stashed in all formats, not Mikolas. When healthy, he's the club's ace, and he had a nice 2.90 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 67/20 K/BB in 62 innings over his 11 starts before his oblique injury. Barring setbacks, fantasy managers should be hopeful that Flaherty can return next month.
