Ian Happ Will Mostly Play Center Field
5 years agoChicago Cubs infielder/outfielder Ian Happ will mostly play center field this spring, according to manager David Ross. It's not a surprise, given all the team's options at third and second base. David Bote, Daniel Descalso, Nico Hoerner and Jason Kipnis will battle for playing time at second base in camp. Happ's primary competition in center will come from Albert Almora Jr., but he doesn't offer the same offensive upside that Happ does for fantasy owners. Happ, a switch-hitter, played in just 58 games in 2019, hitting .264/.333/.564 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI. But with a more regular role, the 25-year-old could be a steal for those in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.
