St. Louis Cardinals managers Mike Shildt said that outfielder Harrison Bader (forearm) is progressing and could join the team within the next seven to 10 days. Bader suffered a right forearm strain in the last week of spring training and has yet to make his 2021 season debut. Bader is taking live batting practice and throwing balls "from as far as he needs to throw them." Without Bader in the fold on defense, the Cardinals have committed 12 errors and have allowed 4.55 runs per game in the early going. Outfielder Dylan Carlson has been filling in at center field with Bader out, but his bat is likely to remain in the starting lineup when Bader is healthy enough to return.
