Gerald Everett 2024 Outlook – Second Fiddle In Chicago To Cole Kmet
7 months agoEverett is a veteran tight end who is about to play on his fourth NFL team in five seasons now that he signed a free-agent contract with the up-and-coming Chicago Bears. He was a consistent pass catcher the past two years for the Los Angeles Chargers, posting back-to-back 50-catch seasons – the two highest reception totals of his career. Everett has never been more than a TE2 in fantasy football throughout his career, however. He has never amassed 600 yards in a year or scored five touchdowns in a season, namely because he has always found himself in tight-end timeshares with the teams he has been on. That will not change in 2024 because Cole Kmet is firmly entrenched as Chicago's top tight end. Everett was brought in to be the No. 2 TE because of his familiarity with the new offense being installed since he played for offensive coordinator Shane Waldron with the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams earlier in his career. Everett's numbers and fantasy value will take a hit due to Kmet and the talented Bears receiving corps taking most of the targets. 40 catches for 450 and four touchdowns are not unrealistic marks for Everett in 2024, but do not expect much more when he's the fifth or sixth-best option in Chicago's passing attack.
